~~Edit: I tried a third time. It didn't work either.~~

It finally worked.

I don't think I've ever mentioned this, but you guys were the partly the ones that gave me the strength to come out. It helps that transphobes are rightfully bullied the fuck off of our site. Transphobes are banned fast and I hope that never changes.

That's all. Glad you're here.

I don't remember the name of the theme, but I feel like the bisexual color palette matched the logo well and was pleasing to the eye. How difficult would it be to modify it and use it for the newer site?

  • My comment appeared in my history.

  • It appeared if I duplicated the tab.

  • But in the tab I posted it - the comment did not appear and I got the pop up warning. I had to click "Leave" to - um... - leave.

The comment in question - https://hexbear.net/comment/3710132

Don't start loading it until you type more than 3 or 4 letters after the colon, that way the list shrinks exponentially and the freeze-up is much shorter.

I had a lot of anxiety and obsession with getting upbears in posts and comments and felt a weird competitiveness that wasn't healthy. It's nice being able to turn off the number of votes and just engage without trying to literally score points.

Thanks for being less and less like reddit-logo every day!

I use the site through my phone's browser, which is how I've always used it. Recently I'm being logged out almost every time I refresh or go to a new page either by clicking a link or using the back button. Is this a known issue that's being worked out?

The title literally says it all. I'm not sure if anyone else feels the same way but it really bothers me. The problem could be easily fixed by just indenting replies a little bit more. I would contribute this change myself but the last time I did any front-end development I was almost fired from an internship.

I can see my own deleted posts as well as other people's deleted posts. They are not deleted!

firefox 116.0.2

filter feed by local, navigate to any post, browser back button to feed. 'Local' is still selected but page is showing posts from other instances. Can anyone replicate?

Anyone else noticing this?

Formatting question (hexbear.net)

For formatting reasons I intentionally incorrectly wrote the HTML entity ZeroWidthSpace; without the &. If I type the entity correctly - the site strips it out even though it's in code tags.

---

Before today - to use an italic exclamation point (etc) - I've used ZeroWidthSpace;. Here's an example...

BipartisanshipZeroWidthSpace;*!*

When it was rendered - I got an italic exclamation point at the end.

The problem is that this version of Hexbear strips out the ZeroWidthSpace;. So the result is...

Bipartisanship*!*

And that's rendered as...

Bipartisanship*!*

Libs are getting banned too fast. They should get a little time to demonstrate whether or not they're here in good faith, and a little time to get dunked on if they're not.

Let us play with our food before we eat it.

I was in my inbox...

  • I wrote out a comment but I didn't click "Reply".

  • I clicked the "upvote" button.

  • My comment was deleted.

Gah.

ive seen other users mention this problem. im on iOS 16.3.1 using Safari. it started happening yesterday and got worse today. even refreshing the homepage logs me out

I tried to post a thread with only emojis in the title

I tried to post a comment that was too long

In both cases, I clicked to post, and the button changed colour and just stalled. I had to figure out by myself that the problem was the submission was against the requirements; it cost me some minutes of confusion.

So this has been happening since the first lemmy upgrade.

Basically the way I browse Is I go to hexbear, I've got All Comms selected and then hit the dropdown and sort by New. Works fine. Brings up Page 1 of New.

I then click on a post, read it, hit the back button. works fine.

I then click next page and we go to page two. works fine.

I then click on a post, read it, hit the back button. does not work fine. Instead I'm back on page 1 of new, while my url shows page 2 of new. If I refresh it, it brings page 2 back up.

Now, I just did my first step, but accidentally did Old instead of New. I fixed it, but when I went to read a post and backed out, I ended up on old again instead of new. Refreshing brought it back to new.

Do with this information what you will, but since this happens to me on desktop and mobile, I'm guessing I'm not alone.

Also, if we could get the abilities to automatically open external links in new tabs/windows that would be great.

Also, also, william-van-spronsen still has his first name misspelled. It's Willem.

Since the XSS incident a couple of weeks back, I hadn't been able to log in, or even sign up for a new account. All attempts at either ended with the spinning bear. Now, presumably because of the upgrade, I have been able to create a second account to post this, but I can't log in to my original account, AppelTrad, because it prompts for 2-factor authentication.

This is (partially) my own fault, I suppose, for clicking the checkbox and not mentioning that it didn't actually give me any of the promised results, while I was still logged in; since I was also able to untick the box without being prompted for anything, I just assumed it was a bit of not-yet-implemented UI and that I had reset the option for if it ever became effective, and carried on without any problems until the forced logout.

Since "2FA being broken is a known issue", I'm wondering: is it possible for an admin to reset that field in my database record (or whatever needs to be done to cancel 2FA) without any of the security shenanigans that should accompany working two-factor authentication, so I can successfully log in again? (I have my passwords saved, so it's not just a mistyped password issue.)

It wasn't ok to change the position of the reply button as a joke.
