You can see the final canvas here: https://canvas.fediverse.events/

We managed to finish our design pretty quickly and there was also the godot logo, the lattice pattern to the right, the cable leading from the monitor to the outlet up near one of the other designs, and everything else people helped with!

Ill be prepping for the next canvas close to when that happens (next year) and if anyone else wants to help out with the design you can help plan it out in the event channel on the discord/matrix

If anyone wants to help out with developing new features for the next time canvas occurs the projects open source. https://git.sc07.company/sc07/canvas Feel free to reach out to me and I can help get you set up with the codebase

Image linked has a red line for where the cables currently planned to go. Any help is appreciated to give our monitor some power!

I started the cable from the outlet and its currently the gray color (third from the left) and will have some parts that need to be shadowed shadowed with the fourth color from the left in the palette

After 15 hours of canvas being active we have finished the design for the instance (and c/godot is also complete over there as well)!

Theres one faction that is going around attacking things sometimes so we still need to defend the design but feel free to go out and help our neighbors! You can find some of the designs over in the group finder thread https://programming.dev/post/16546238

One of our neighbors who needs some help is lemmy.zip. You can find their template here if you want to help build up their logo https://canvas.fediverse.events/#x=291&y=417&zoom=4&tu=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FhuITY4p.png&tw=71&tx=255&ty=375&ts=NUMBERS

And then a dotted template here: https://canvas.fediverse.events/#x=403&y=382&zoom=2&tu=https%3A%2F%2Fbytes.programming.dev%2Ffiles%2F9a57789d-d7d9-4646-b7f1-3e00bb6d02c9&tw=500&tx=0&ty=0&ts=DOTTED_BIG

(includes the programming.dev area, toast.ooo, and c/godot currently)

And then an image of the design

Canvas is happening in almost a day! This is an event similar to to r/place where everyone can place a pixel on a canvas every so often. Everyone has access to the same canvas meaning you can work together to construct art and wars can happen for territory leading to needing to defend things that get constructed

The event link is here: https://canvas.fediverse.events

This is the second time the event is taking place. Ive attached an image of what our area looked like the first time it happened.

Last time canvas took place it was limited to only lemmy users due to limitations in the log in system. This time however its open to all fediverse users so there will probably be a lot more competition for space

The main locations for dicussing the event for programming.dev is this community, our discord and our matrix if you want to chat with other people participating

Theres a design that will be getting made for programming.dev in general but if any communities want to organize something feel free to plan out something nearby or elsewhere on the canvas. Any help getting the programming.dev design built will also be really appreciated since then we will be able to expand out the design and get more communities represented in the community icons

You can use this template to know where to place pixels for the programming.dev design when the event is happening

One to one: https://canvas.fediverse.events/#x=394&y=489&zoom=2&tu=https%3A%2F%2Fbytes.programming.dev%2Ffiles%2F6f673823-4fce-4fc0-8b92-8c2fda30469f&tw=500&tx=0&ty=0&ts=ONE_TO_ONE

Dotted: https://canvas.fediverse.events/#x=394&y=489&zoom=2&tu=https%3A%2F%2Fbytes.programming.dev%2Ffiles%2F6f673823-4fce-4fc0-8b92-8c2fda30469f&tw=500&tx=0&ty=0&ts=DOTTED_BIG

edit: added c/godot and toast.ooo to the template

This design may get updated as the event goes on so check for any updates every so often so you dont erase work

Ill be active over in the event channel in discord & matrix (theyre bridged to each other) and will be posting some announcements in this community. Feel free to make posts relating to the event in here

Lemmy users, you can now vote for your favourite song in Lemmyvision's song contest, an Eurovision-like song contest, in which various instances submitted a song of their choice!

My sincere thanks everyone for your submissions, I have created a form where you can rank your favourite songs, it's available here :

➡️ Lemmyvision Voting Form - https://tally.so/r/nWNgKQ ⬅️

I'll leave the form open for a week and then collect the results!

Make sure to check each submitted song thanks to the playlists @[email protected] has created:

Full list of songs:

  • 🇦🇺 Royel Otis - Heading For The Door (aussie.zone / Australia)
  • 🇧🇪 Puggy - Lost Child ([email protected] / Belgium)
  • 🇨🇦 Lu Kala - Hotter Now (lemmy.ca / Canada)
  • 🇩🇰 Pil - Dronning Af Månen (feddit.dk / Denmark)

Users from non-participating instances can still participate in the voting, and self identify as third party. Let me know if there's any issue with the form!

Enjoy! 🎶

GSC - Finals (polls.programming.dev)

Were up to the finals for selecting our song for the lemmyvision contest!

Playlist of songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjeTwn9uA3Y&list=PLJypTpbGxbEofp6tiOHO8hr48sL106ThK

What is Lemmyvision

Lemmyvision is a competition with different countries/communities each deciding on one song to send to the contest and then people will be able to vote for which one is their favorite. The aim is to promote different languages and cultures from around the world, to share more between our online communities across Lemmy, and discover songs from lesser known artists.

We are participating as an opportunity to showcase new advancements in the game development space, especially for indie games that might otherwise not get much exposure

Ive been nicknaming our team Team Antarctica but that might be the team name or might not be

How will voting work?

We have two semifinals each with 4 songs. You have the opportunity to vote for a favorite and then a second favorite in each semifinal with voting happening based on ranked choice where if your first choice doesnt get enough votes, the vote goes to your second choice instead. Top two of each semifinal are brought into the finals for a final round of voting

Hey everyone! Someone on lemmy is running a eurovision-like event called Lemmyvision that we are participating in.

The community for it is at [email protected]

What is Lemmyvision?

The contest will involve different countries each deciding on one song to send to the contest and then people will be able to vote for which one is their favorite. The aim is to promote different languages and cultures from around the world, to share more between our online communities across Lemmy, and discover songs from lesser known artists.

Why are we in?

Programming.dev isnt a country but we have been given an exception due to one aspect of our instance that usually is not represented in these competitions but still brings a lot of music, game soundtracks.

If you prefer to participate but for your country instead feel free to discuss it over on the country lemmy community, its been getting announced around in some spots

How is our submission decided?

We will be running a vote to select what song we will be sending to the competition.

Over the next week submissions will be open for people to submit 1-2 songs for the voting round. After a week these will be collected and will be voted on in heats before doing a final round vote to determine the winner.

Submission rules

  • Songs must have been released within the last year (after January 1st, 2023).
  • Songs must be used within a game and not be popular OR be made for a game

Example soundtracks

Songs not made within the last year (but are here for inspiration / showing possible vibes of tracks)

Examples of songs made within the last year

Where do I submit songs?

You can submit using this link: https://polls.programming.dev/k27X

Stay tuned for song voting in a week :)

Canvas After Day 2 (programming.dev)
submitted 1 year ago by Ategon to c/events

The lemmy canvas has been going for 2 days now! Here's what the P.D corner is looking like

Most things are nearing completion and there's been two more larger pieces made by c++ and godot

Theres still 1 more day left in the event if anyone else wants to participate. The website is https://canvas.toast.ooo

Theres some empty space in the area and you can build on the gray checker pattern as well (just make sure it looks good with everything else)
