There were two “Reigns of Terror,” if we would but remember it and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon ten thousand persons, the other upon a hundred millions; but our shudders are all for the “horrors” of the minor Terror, the momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe, compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty, and heart-break? What is swift death by lightning compared with death by slow fire at the stake? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief Terror which we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror—that unspeakably bitter and awful Terror which none of us has been taught to see in its vastness or pity as it deserves.

I would say the biggest indictments against the French Revolution can be found in Algeria and Haiti and Vietnam.

Snopes tends to be better about apolitical stuff.

I'm surprised politifact is even a thing anymore. I remember them throwing up obvious bullshit going back to the Obama Administration.

I mean... meh?

I thought this might have some kind of story to it, or a clever city building/farming integration, but all I've really seen is Worms: Pokemon

Is this game good or is it just being relentlessly hyped? I haven't seen much in terms of gameplay that leaves me feeling particularly excited.

Even the Penny Arcade review struck me as mid. Just filling the hole that Pokemania created with its own series of flops.

Definitely a problem, but ask the UK agricultural system why simply importing all your workers isn't an ideal system - particularly when you plan to treat them like shit.

Recruitments have been announced in at least two states in India, where Israel is looking to hire up to 20,000 workers in the coming months for its construction sector. This is amid several concerns regarding the process, including a lack of labor protections related to labor guarantees and medical coverage.

Meanwhile, Israel’s agriculture sector, central to the Zionist settler-colonial myth of “making the desert bloom”, is facing its “biggest crisis since…1948” as it is no longer able to exploit Palestinian workers for some of its most physically-intensive tasks.

Surprised they haven't tried to tap the Ukrainian refugee market yet. But... I guess there's a reason they might not be eager to let a bunch of Ukrainians in, given their current political affinities.
