What was the law change about that made lefty journalists flee?
Anna's Archive has been my go-to for the past few months, seems great. Sometimes you have to open the link to a mirror a few times before it works, no issues otherwise
Interesting to think about how contingent history can be. If the Finnish Reds had won the civil war, then possibly there wouldn't have been a Siege of Leningrad. And it would have changed the calculus of the northern/Baltic theater of WW2. Maybe Finland would have been among those countries which joined the USSR as a Soviet republic.
I was in Tampere a while ago and visited the neighborhood of Pispala, where Reds held out for over a week during the White advance. Geographically, Pispala is a high point in the area on top of a hill that oversees a lake. There's a monument there now in memory of the Reds. When the situation looked bleak, some Reds were able to escape in the middle of the night by skiing across the frozen lake to safety.
On this Pispala Ridge the red guard in Tampere last stood with weapons in hand defending their cause in 1918
I would guess the problem with anesthesia is it's actually pretty complicated and things can go wrong with that step

this is the version hosted on the ICJ website (should be the same), if you care where your slop is sourced
RIP garden. Or is this just playing hardball to force the Euros to shell out even more cash for LNG? The average American resident who pays utility bills will relate to being extorted by the only company in town
Another example of this war-drumming I've seen: OMG Russia/Belarus is planning to create a land bridge to Kaliningrad!
Tl;dr me think nato knew about these things but media messed it up and russians can only put out more dumber weapons
I can't tell if these people are trying to lull themselves out of an existential terror or if they truly don't understand that Russia is capable of holding their nuclear arsenal to a higher standard of maintenance and oversight than a bunch of line infantry units. Is it's readiness rate lower than ours? I bet it is, a lot lower.
What was underestimated was Russia's willingness to grind its own population down by the hundreds of thousands in a suicidal effort to steal land from Ukraine.
Is there some Parenti quote for this kind of backhanded admission? This post is literally about redditors being fucking wrong and morons, and yet they still judo their way into sounding smug. That, or they take a deep breath of copium and believe that the NATO geniuses behind the curtain know what's actually going on, they're actually prepared, it's just the media, etc.
arm chair reddit geopolitic experts had me convinced that its matter of months before Russia collapses due to resource ccrunch and all sanctions. i m not even kidding. i seriously believed that after reading tonnes of similar comments. so this news is a major bummer.
Thanks, this is a perfectly timed comment because I was planning to ask if anyone had deeper insight about the Finnish elections. All I know about the candidates is:
- Li Andersson is least bad
- Pekka Haavisto is the NATO lover who has been leading the charge of closing the Russian border, ending tourist visas for Russians, etc
- Jussi Halla-aho, more like JuSSi Heil-aho
Do you have any guesses who's likely to win? And how do Finns generally view the current president Niinistö? I guess they must like him if he's had multiple terms.
looking up at it
