Yeah, that tracks. "Look miss, I'm the mechanic but you will need to do the driving yourself."

Ouch, I feel you on this one. Both of the ones, really.

I mean yeah, printers really try to behave like somewhat sophisticated typewriters in a way. There are so many things that I suppose used to make sense early on but that really should have been refactored again and again over time. But since the technology is so insanely widespread and backward compatibility being a must-have... tech debt is a bitch.

And that's why IT people hate printers.

Yeah, I really like my 3D printers even though they can be pretty fiddly as well.

But paper printers man, not even once.

Scanners are basically (and most of the time literally) printers. And printers are of the devil.

I'm not Gen Z btw, I'm on the tail end of Gen X and an IT professional of twenty years.

Anything that's full of zero-effort memes, snarky one-liners, or puns that were played out twenty years ago. All of that I am very happy to leave behind on Reddit, hopefully at least.

I instantly block/ignore any of the communities whose only purpose is ragebait and focusing on drama, like /r/AITA, /r/unpopularopinions and their ilk.
Already did that "back there" but I have much less patience for any of that lowest possible common denominator content now.

While I'd never want to talk someone out of building their own custom from individually sourced components... let it be said that you can also get a pre-built Planck from ZSA: https://www.zsa.io/planck

It's a bit pricier than combining everything on your own for sure. But if it's in your budget and you don't know your way about what components you need it's an option.
