Similar to cooking. This week we made a big pot of spaget and was so relieved each day after work coming home to just microwaving dinner and washing a few dishes instead of cooking hungry and washing dishes all sleepy

But then people would be able to vote and not be homeless which goes against their goals

Was it working fine before? I've been using Bluetooth headphones and wireless mouse on popos for a few months now and only had an issue on a machine yesterday. I think it was because I was swapping the drive with the os on the several different motherboards to test different cpus

I think that's what popos comes with, never looked into what the differences are between them or why one would want to switch

For email and calendar I'D probably look into proton. For other software tools i would start with services people like that you don't have to manage other than be like the admin and as you go try and find alternatives and self host your own and teat it out. Maybe even something like digital ocean where you can just spin up a droplet that's presetup for you and learn more and more until you're comfortable to transition other people to it

Haha this is pretty much the response I expected but I'm still waiting for my gpu block to show up so I've had a lot of time to over think the whole thing, plus it's been pretty fun learning more about fluid and stuff.

At this point I just want to try it and record it and hopefully do it better than the only two people I have found that tried doing it the way car people seem to do it all the time

I was just thinking about my free oracle server if it would be good for my own lemmy instance?

I currently have an Unraid server running at home for my personal files as well as some game servers and as a media server.

I have a second machine that I use at a different location that has VPN setup to home so I can work on my projects remotely. I would like to use the second machine to also take backups of my personal files and my docker configs etc.

the second machine is running Pop!OS currently and I have several drives installed. the Issue is I was trying to create a storage pool with ZFS but apparently Pop!OS is like the only distro that doesnt like ZFS.

should I re-image my remote machine to another OS? or should I try and create a pool with something else? I have two 6TB drives and three 2TB drives that I can use, I have some more installed on there but dont really need that much space.

I used to use windows on my second machine and would just connect my shares from unraid as smb and backup with bvckup2 to a windows storage space of all the drives combined. Now I switched to linux and would like to do something similar.

My idea was to combine the similar drives into vdevs and a big pool with ZFS then run luckybackup but that derailed when I tried and failed because of Pop!OS

It was in the grill in the yard so I caught it and moves it over to a vineyard away from where my dogs can go

Also the crows just happen to be flying home for the evening when I looked up and noticed the decorations
