buy ads on a platform that forces a login to just view tweets? That's some sudden change most people aren't prepared for. in my opinion many will stop going; how are they going to make this profitable?

where have we heard this before?
I have to say the silver lining in all of this is that decentralized forms of community building are on the rise, and this is a good thing. I don't think it's healthy to centralize all data and power in the hands of private companies that can decide to, oh you know, kill api access etc.
If reddit gets rid of their rss feeds then i'm absolutely done using that site. I already plan on staying away from reddit based on the api changes getting rid of my 3rd party reddit client. If they get rid of rss feed then I have no reason to use that site, nor would I want to anymore.
Speaking of which, does lemmy have rss feeds?
I'm new here and I'm new to Lemmy too. I'm excited to learn and be here in beehaw, yeehaw
Hello to all! I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi!
I'd say don't let fear control you.
When fear gets too out of hand it becomes a problem; However there's a side of fear that can also prompt us to improve a situation, where we can recognize the threat which then allows us to educate, inform, act, and build a better world.
There will be a lot of challenges to face, especially considering the limits to change based on how rampant wealth inequality is, but I don't think it's a good idea to feel frozen and shocked at not being able to instigate positive change.
Using linux as an alternative to windows and really enjoying it.
