Russian military bases are visible on google maps and Ukrainian troops have been training in nato countries since close to the beginning of the war

Russia has nukes, Iran doesn’t… (yet although trump may well have fucked that up)

I mean it’s getting under trumps skin because he isn’t interested in valid criticisms and only understands schoolyard level insults.

It’s working as a message on the general public even more so because Vance and Trump’s messaging has gotten further from the original populism and more focused on an in group or his qult or whatever.

I don’t think “weird” is working in the sense of having any marked impact on racism

I absolutely agree racism should be called out whenever and wherever possible, I’m just not sure calling it weird is the right way to do that.

Also most Americans may not be explicitly racist the way trump and right wingers are but the majority certainly have internal prejudices or biases. Many left leaning people I know have had to put work and intentionality into unlearning patterns of thought or biases

Let’s not overuse weird, a ton of what he does is super weird but this isn’t really; it’s just racist which is pretty in character for him and his base

You can’t take the sky from me

It’s about time

This really brings up how fucking mind bogglingly short our attention span and memory seems to be. Donald trump murdered my grandfather, he murdered some of my favorite musicians and artists, he murdered one in 300 Americans, and most of us just fucking moved on and forgot I guess

That does make sense (to me at least), now that I’m paying attention I feel like I can focus on individual instruments or vocals and I am still aware of the others in the background but they’re less prevalent. I also have ADHD, not sure about any correlations there

Interesting, I’m not sure if I can hear exactly… it’s very different from a spoken voice. I can sort of play music in my head though if I have a song I want to hear but I’m not sure if it’s “hearing it” or just a kind of ephemeral knowing how it goes.

I have this, and I know a couple people who discovered they have it too. I think it’s likely more common than people expect. Radiolab did a fantastic podcast about it: https://one.npr.org/i/1254201231:1254201233

I actually much prefer synchronous to asynchronous communication (at least with people I actually like) as I feel like so much humanity is lost in a block of formatted text in response to another block of formatted text.

At least texting is much better than email, you can still get some back and forth and spontaneity. My friends and I primarily use video or audio calls though
