Yeah that’s right, I’m a veteran of the war of mentally gaming out wrestling matches with other dudes

Is the US trying to squeeze Europe with this to give Ukraine more aid or something?

Markets distributing scarce resources can only ever have a profit motive driving them, because that is the underpinning of the market. And so therefore they are not an act of maximizing happiness, they are an act of maximizing profit (even if the profit ceiling is imposed by regulation or not). It’s an unnatural construct that requires an incredibly dense onion of manufactured legal and social norms over time to simply maintain. I wouldn’t call that something that is done well

There’s only one thing that can break through an echo-chamber: dialectical materialism

Taking magnesium at night has been amazing for me. Best consistent sleep I’ve had in a long time

Just take a moment to look at the horizon of the lands behind them when they’re jumping off the sand wall. It is such a beautiful place

That’s a fallacy. Death is omnipresent, and we have no say. “Death to America” is the correct position

Why would you want anything that benefits the US

My partner asked me if I had any podcast recos specific for news since she isn't on Twitter or anything really. She enjoys Rev Left every now and then, but she's looking for something more timely/news-focused and like an ongoing run-through of current events from a (hopefully) Marxist perspective, or however close that can reasonably be.

I'm putting together a list and have Democracy Now and Citations Needed (although CN is lengthier and less "hard-hitting news" type podcast than what she's looking for). But I'm kind of stuck. The Socialist Program with Brian Becker is kind of like too aggressive and focused on imperialism, I don't know anything about Coffee with Comrades, Deconstructed seems lib?, also don't know anything about the Jacobin podcasts like The Dig. Is Behind the News any good?

I feel like Democracy Now is the type of comprehensive news delivery that she's looking for the most, but I know that show can be anti-communist too. Idk, what does everyone think?

*Edit -- Hell yeah thank you all so much! I’m going with Morning Means TV, Give the People What They Want, The Punch Out, Citations Needed, and Democracy Now for a solid wrap of news podcasts

Anyone know how to get a hold of the Hinge Points episodes in a sharable way for a friend who is not a CTH Patreon? I was specifically looking for the Civil War episode and can only find this broken link - (something like c10.patreonusercontent.com, idk it didn’t paste correctly).

My friend is a lib who is super into history and literally argued with me that history is, indeed, simply a collection of unrelated events. An act of randomness. He’s a smart guy too and not entirely a lib, and I was blown away by that

I’m about 4 months into a new job and I do everything via laptop. It’s a good sized company, about 400 employees I think. I got a request from IT for a meeting to transition from JAMF to Desktop Central, which is affecting everything. I had no idea about JAMF though, it was never mentioned in my onboarding. Trying to look up info on these two brought me to basically “they can see absolutely everything you do.” But it’s not too clear to me the extent involved here. Any IT folks with knowledge about this? Researching into it, fucking every company with remote employees is getting into this. Feels like a massive surveillance transition unrolling in real time and it seems real bad

Edit - are there any ways I can effectively prevent them from doing this? Dummy activity scripts? VPNs?

Double edit — it is indeed a work laptop issued to me
