I love it! It feels like a Checkov's minigun firing smaller Checkov's pistols.

I don't know how it all ties together yet but I'm excited to find out. I'm guessing the reason you feel like something's off is probably because there are multiple disconnected threads that don't cleanly fit together, and that makes it seem a bit... scattered?

Durarara also gave me the same vibe (it's by the same author) since it also started seemingly scattered and then each plot thread collided in the latter half of the season.

I made a couple of posts about it here as well. Hopefully there will be more active discussion threads for future episodes.

Classic Pippa

Wow that's one hell of a ride! I found it because of Hiiragi Kirai's latest song which I didn't realize was an anime opening at first (check it out btw it's a banger as usual). Since the description seemed interesting I decided to check it out.

That was a good idea because it's entertaining and the plot is very compelling. It's on episode 9 right now. While watching it I thought it gave me a similar vibe to Durarara (also great check it out). Turns out it's by the same guy!

I like watching isekai, even the bad ones 😅 (this isn't one of them btw), but I'm not sure this counts as one.

spoilerReverse isekai maybe?

The plot is great, and so is the comedy. In some places it almost reminds me of how Demiurge from Overlord reacts to Ainz doing literally anything ~~Sasuga Ainz-sama~~.

I also really liked how some of the characters are unapologetically chuuni. It's my favourite character type really.

Overall, I'm looking forward to how this plays out. And once the anime is done airing I'm going to check out the manga. If you like multiple plot threads that initially don't seem to fit together very clearly, but then eventually implode into an explosion of P L O T, watch Durarara, since idk if the same thing happens here (I'm still watching it duh) but if you like an entertaining story that really likes to subvert your expectations, then sure, watch DMDP, and then post about it. I'd love to know what everyone else thinks.

I watched a little over one season of Honzuki no Gekokujou and I didn't find too interesting tbh (I only watched that many episodes because I was really bored at the time). It just felt like a "base building game" (I can't think of any other analogy for some reason). Is there something I'm missing, like the anime not adapting the source material well? Because I see a lot of people who like but I can't seem to understand why. To be clear, I don't think it's that bad but it seems more popular than it should be.

There are many but a few that come to mind that I've been browsing a lot recently are:

  • r/KumoDesu : The final volume (volume 16) is coming out on the 20th and I've started rereading the series. I actually finished reading the WN a couple of days ago (I love this series so much asdfaklmsv).
  • r/IsekaiOjisan : Just plain fun
  • r/Mashle : Not small but still one of my favourites. I don't watch shonen a lot but this is a great manga.

I've considered hosting a couple of fediverse (and nextcloud) servers before but servers are expensive 😞
I mainly want an exact alternative to r/Anime and r/Manga for the episode discussions and I also want r/WritingPrompts and r/Animemes because those are my gotos to kill time.

Yeah. As much as I want to abandon Reddit completely if they go through with this, I'll probably be forced to use new reddit and the official app because most communities probably wont migrate at all. There are many niche communities that I'm subscribed to, like related to a specific anime/LN series that's not too big.

Yeah I prefer this style of interaction far more than the Mastodon style. I just never could get into the twitter style of social media.
