Humans certainly have a huge sense of entitlement when it comes to ownship of the world and I think it is starting to bite us in the ass.

Except in this case they're only here because of humans, which in my opinion makes them -- and managing their impact on the ecosystem -- our responsibility. It's not really entitlement to want to do that.

Yeah this thread is wild to read, I just assumed I'd see Peoples, Havana, L'affare, etc. but it looks like this is actually a very regional thing. Which is cool!

The ferns got NZ football's first world cup win ever tonight and set a new attendance record for a football match in NZ at 42,000+. They beat Norway, who are currently ranked 12th in the world.

I wasn't really sure what link or news site to use, so sorry if there was a better option, I'm just made up about the win and wanted to share.

So uh, maybe it's obvious to everyone else but I'll go ahead and ask... What's that in his mouth?

Very hopeful that Diaz gets a chance to develop some chemistry with Gakpo and whichever midfielder ends on sitting on the left. When he played last season he was probably our most dangerous attacker, even though he was kind of going solo a lot of the time. If he has a partner over there like Mane had in Robertson, he'll be even more effective.

It is a weird time for it, for sure.

You could imagine they feel that the Countdown brand has suffered enough over the last few years to make rebranding worthwhile, but this doesn't seem like the way to win people back, for the reasons you say...

I heard 2030 as a likely target date for this whole "own all the sports" thing on a recent Bloomberg podcast.

When China pushed into football in the 2010s, it only really lasted five years or so, but it looks to me like this will be more sustained, especially given the success of the project so far.

No, I just meant that international football is where people go when they want to watch "people from over here" play against "people from over there".

Granted it's not broken down so far as the level of city vs. city, so you don't get a "players from Liverpool FC", I'm just pointing out that something like what you're describing does exist at the national level so you have "players from England FC" instead.

That's basically what international football is for.

700k a year

If that's all it takes, LFC should counter with 800k per year.

In another report I saw something like 10-20 million pounds. Not a ton. But you'll also save on his salary which will probably be lower for any replacement we bring in.

Could be a blessing in disguise.

In terms of the squad rebuild we're currently going through, these would be the next two you'd want to replace, so this may just move the timeline up a bit (assuming we can find suitable replacements in short order).

Alisson could be an option.

VVD does seem like the obvious choice but his manner on the pitch isn't really what we need.

That said I'm sure there's an existing pecking order that will settle things, at least at the start of the season.
