That's not what this case was for, it was to establish that there's possibly genocide and that other nations signatory to the genocide conventions must take action to prevent possible genocide.

Actual charges of genocide will need an investigation and lengthy court process.

Edit: just to be clear, I mean from the legal sense about "possible genocide" in that it hasn't been proven in a court. The genocide is obviously happening

Vietnam was under brutal sanctions as well until they took an IMF loan and opened up their economy which let a lot of manufacturing into the country. This helped normalize relations between them and the US. They also united all of Vietnam during the war, so they don't have any major ambitions for expanding territory in a way that would disrupt US capital flows.

Conversely, DPRK is adamant about not opening up their economy or taking any IMF loans and still claims the territory of RoK, which is a huge cornerstone of US capital because of their chip manufacturing. So overall much less friendly to US capital.

Also what supafuzz mentioned about tensions between Vietnam and China because of the tenuous situation with borders and South China Sea means a potential regional ally against a US enemy state.

1000 curses upon the lawyers and executives of Kakao Entertainment. May they never know the light of heaven.

Some brave folks on the manga piracy subreddit are planning on continuing development with a fork so hope may not be lost, but Kakao said they're also going to target downstream forks so we'll see what happens.

In case you missed it, popular manga reader app Tachiyomi pushed an update this week that removed its web extension list for manga reader sites like mangadex and said they'll be moving to a move plex/jellyfin like model of "bring your own content".

Today a Korean manwha publisher, Kakao Entertainment, announced on their twitter they've been gathering details about the project's main contributors for pursuing legal action to attempt to shutdown the project and all downstream forks.

Third party rehosts of the extension list have already popped up, but they won't be much use if the main app gets shutdown. Also it's unclear to me if the extensions will be updated going forward, so they may stop working in the future.

Tachiyomi, under the guise of 'legitimate' open-source development, has been seriously infringing on the copyright of manwhas worldwide.

We have collected personal details of most individuals invovled in this project and plan to proceed with strong legal and institutional responses against over 100 forked Github pages.
