Proton said the Standard Notes app, which is available for both mobile and desktop, will remain “open source, freely available and fully supported”.

It also suggested that there will be no change to Standard Notes’ prices; its press release specifies that existing five-year subscriptions “will continue to be honored.”

“Standard Notes will remain an independent product and in due course both companies will open access to their products to each others’ users,” Proton added.

Learn about migrating your data

Data migration page:

Dear Skiff Community,

We are excited to share that Skiff is joining Notion.

Skiff's mission is to bring freedom to the internet by helping people collaborate and communicate with freedom and privacy. We see a deep alignment with Notion’s vision to build a connected workspace and enable everyone to build tools that reflect their values.

We’re extremely excited to accelerate our mission by joining forces with Notion’s world-class team. We sincerely hope that the Skiff community will join us for this next stage of our journey. We’re pursuing big plans for making all of our online lives freer and more empowered, and these plans will carry forward directly the ambitions we’ve strived for alongside the Skiff community.

As we begin to shift focus to our shared efforts with Notion, we will be closing down Skiff's product suite after a 6-month sunset period We are deeply appreciative of the trust users have extended to us, and we are committed to honoring that trust by ensuring that all data on Skiff is easily exportable. For the next 6 months, Skiff services will continue to operate without disruption, and users can freely duplicate, migrate, or export data. You can now also set up a forwarding address to redirect mail to any other provider.

Our commitment to privacy and security is unchanged. All user data remains end-to-end encrypted, and Skiff products will never monetize your data. Accounts and data on Skiff will not be converted into Notion accounts.

We encourage you to export your data and migrate custom domains within the next 6 months. We’ve prepared this guide to make that process as easy as possible. For any other questions, our support team is readily available via the in-app “Send feedback” option or at [email protected].

The Skiff community has lifted, inspired, and energized us at every step. We are humbled by your support and we apologize for any disappointment or inconvenience this change may cause you. We remain as committed as ever to bringing about the vision for a better internet that brought us together. Thank you for being part of the Skiff family, and we look forward to continuing to serve you with our future efforts.

Sincerely, Skiff Team

Personally, I wouldn't mind if Beehaw changes forum software. I first came here to check out Lemmy on what looked like a safe instance, yes, but I stayed because I appreciated the calm community. I stopped participating when the Reddit migration happened, however, and Beehaw got more attention than before from other instances, and posters who don't appreciate Beehaw's policies. TBF however, recently I've gotten into more traditional forums, so perhaps I'm biased. But I believe that Beehaw is more than a Lemmy instance.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but people on Mastodon can follow Lemmy communities and create or comment on posts. The reverse can't be said for Lemmy.

Hello! I noticed that the original Mastodon discovery thread got deleted, so I decided to create another one.

I'll start. I'm @[email protected], and my interests include open-source software, shounen anime, cozy videogames, and writing.

In the replies, please include your Mastodon handle(s) and any interests. Thank you!

I got my laptop back from the repair shop. They said I really needed to replace the internal keyboard and touchpad components, but I just disabled them and stuck on an external keyboard and mouse.

Then I played Sims 4 for about four hours. Fun!

kbin is fairly new and just has one developer working on it, who's also the sole admin of an instance that's constantly under heavy load.

A little wait will not hurt you.

Late to the thread, but Sims 4!

I have 68 games in my Steam library that I haven't touched.

On the other hand, I just finished Monument Valley 2 this weekend!

Lately, I've been using Standard Notes for writing blog posts in Markdown.

Cozy endless games like Minecraft, Stardew Valley, or Sims 4, where I can just get lost in the gameplay and don't have to stress out over objectives or missions.

Zorin was my first distro, and I agree that it works great out of the box!

I switched to Linux Mint later, but I can't remember exactly why. Linux Mint is nice to use too.
