I'm glad someone's finally addressing this because i've been noticing this trend in entertainment for years now and it's been really pissing me off.

Ah, i see another location has just become "strategically unimportant".

And yet still when the news first broke that this happened there were some communists who insisted that this was an organic event. When will people ever learn that the US (or one of their proxies) is always behind shit like this?

In the wake of the most recent Zionist attacks on Lebanon i have been disappointed to notice an uptick in comrades both here and on Hexbear who are not able to put these events into proper context and are instead allowing their emotions to overwhelm their logic. In times like these one must take a step back and look at the bigger picture, and for goodness's sake stop taking Zionist propaganda at face value.

I think it is worth reading what this article quotes Dugin as saying, because literally every single thing he says in his response to these events is the wrong conclusion to draw from what has happened. Unfortunately some of what a few comrades have written in recent news threads is beginning to sound exactly like Dugin, completely misinterpreting what is happening as the Zionist entity "winning" rather than signs of its terminal desperation, making the mistake of drawing the conclusion that in order to win a war you must behave like the Zionists, and assuming that if the Resistance does not respond with in some big and aggressive way that means they must be losing.

I have also read takes very similar to Dugin's on the Ukraine conflict, also claiming after every hollow Kiev Junta propaganda victory that Russia must escalate in order not to allow itself to be "humiliated". Yet when the dust has settled we have consistently seen that the patient approach has been the successful one, Russia is now in a better position diplomatically, militarily and economically than when it started while the crimes of the Zionists have not brought them any closer to victory. Every leader of the Resistance they martyr brings countless more fighters to its ranks. Every atrocity they commit further isolates them on the world stage. Their economy is imploding and no amount of crimes against humanity will reverse that. They are doing nothing but digging their own grave.

That's a lot of words to say slave labor.

I just want to say i really appreciate the quality of this discussion and i think very good arguments have been made by both sides, many of which also reflect my thoughts on this matter.

they can't fully block them without attacking China/Russia which would be considered an act of war

I think this is the essential point here. This is the crucial difference between the old sea routes, where other countries control passage, and this one. Blocking the former would require much less escalation.

Other factors to mention are Russia's growing superiority in the arctic (US has nothing to rival Russia's modern nuclear icebreakers), and the capability of shore based hypersonic missiles to interdict a conventional naval presence. The US really only has two options here which is submarines or air sorties from Alaska, both of which involve serious risk of starting a nuclear war...and that's a threshold I'm not sure the US is willing to cross yet.

Most likely. It was definitely not organic. Whenever you see a sudden spike in almost identical talking points against a threat to the establishment you can be sure you're dealing with a very top-down co-ordinated propaganda campaign.

So the Zionist entity brought Chinese influencers to Israel on a promotional trip, to create a positive image of "Israel" in China… but it seems they invited the wrong guy.

Do you have any substantive criticism to offer or are you just here to throw around ad hominems?

Maybe we're all missing something but it really seems to me like there is very little reason for this feud apart from personal animosity. Policy wise they seem to be on the same page, at least in general terms, and as your research indicates there doesn't seem to have been any big change in the overall situation such that you could say the new government is doing a worse job.

These internecine squabbles are such a waste of energy...I wish they would focus on the real enemy.

Cold war communist politics was very messy...

This is great! Now i really want to learn more about the situation in Sri Lanka, like actually in detail how they managed it, what their exact positions are and how they plan to govern. Fascinating stuff.

The 32nd Convention of CPUSA started on June 7th and went largely as expected. During the convention, we saw the passing of 23 resolutions. Some were genuinely correct in many aspects, such as Resolution #1 regarding Palestine, Resolution #2 regarding labor, and Resolution #10 regarding the DPRK and Asia.

What made this convention noteworthy, though, wasn’t the passing of correct resolutions, nor the passing of incorrect resolutions, but rather the discussion and forcing through of Resolution #5 pertaining to the 2024 presidential election and the party's explicit willingness to serve as a lapdog of the Democratic Party.

This resolution went on to commit the Communist Party to invest all its power and resources to “participation in the broad front to defeat Trump, Trumpism, and the MAGA Republicans.” The resolution went on to state that the defeat of Donald Trump in the 2024 elections will be a “decisive defeat for the corporate right-wing and fascist forces. This will help change the balance of forces and clear the way to change the direction of our nation—to slash the military budget, end the sending of weapons to Israel, tax the rich, win quality healthcare for all, strengthen the right to vote, strengthen union organizing rights, restore Roe v. Wade, and end police murder of people of color.”

[...]

During the opening of the 32nd Convention, the rules and presiding committee were presented. Per the party constitution, these rules are to be democratically adopted. If any person were to disagree with the presented rules, they are to be discussed prior to adoption.

The rules presented indicated that votes on resolutions would not be counted and would rather be conducted solely as a verbal “yes" or “no” vote, with the stipulation being if there was a split in the vote that the final decision would be taken to the National Committee, a body which is functionally subservient to the Sims-Cambron leadership clique.

During the presentation of these rules, objections were made, and these objections were subsequently ignored; marking the first, but not last, instance of disregard of the Communist Party's Constitution during this convention.

Prior to opening discussion on Resolution #5, Sims rambled at length about the “MAGA fascist threat,” at times outright claiming that if Joe Biden was not reelected in 2024 that “red state police” would be kicking down doors to drag immigrants and people of color to concentration camps.

When discussion was opened for Resolution #5, 51 people attempted to sign up to speak. Of those 51, only four were ultimately selected to speak. All four had been hand-selected by the presiding committee and were explicitly pro-resolution members of the party. At no point were dissenting voices to the resolution allowed to voice their opinions in any way whatsoever. This fact alone entirely invalidates the "freedom of debate" principle in Democratic Centralism, a key element in Marxism-Leninism, a principle to which the CPUSA still purports to adhere.

[...]

Dissent has been successfully crushed in the Communist Party during this convention, with the next one not scheduled until 2028. However, the current leadership has failed to inspire any faith in their commitment to Marxism, their ability to lead the party into relevance with the working class, or their interest in adhering to the rules they present to party members.

They have also been unable to fully remove or crush those committed to the scientific process of Marxism-Leninism; these members will likely continue to organize within the party and gain popularity. If the Communist Party truly wishes to succeed, it must abandon the Democratic Party and serve as a guiding light for workers, away from the rabid liberalism it currently endorses.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan was appointed Vietnam's acting president by the Communist Party's Politburo on Thursday, following Vo Van Thuong's exit from the role.

Xuan will hold the position until the National Assembly can vote for a new president.

This is the second time in the 2021-2026 term where Xuan was appointed as an acting president. In January last year, Xuan also held the position for over a month after Nguyen Xuan Phuc exited the role.

Xuan, 54, from the southern province of An Giang, holds a master's degree in public management. She became the youngest vice president to be voted by the National Assembly in April 2021, at age 51.

Xi Jinping arrived in Vietnam for a state visit and received a respectful and warm welcome at the airstair by party and state leaders of VietNam including Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The visit on Tuesday comes three months after United States President Joe Biden travelled to Vietnam as the major powers vie for influence in the Southeast Asian nation.

Later in the day, the sides signed 37 agreements, including on cross-border rail development and trade. The two countries have also agreed to conduct joint patrols in the Tonkin Gulf, according to reporters who witnessed the signing ceremony.

In an opinion piece published in Vietnam’s Nhan Dan newspaper before the visit on Tuesday, Xi wrote: “Asia’s future is in the hands of no one but Asians.”
