This is really strange, hopefully the admins are able to do something about it without too much difficulty...

Appreciate the update, either way, was wondering about this.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 months ago

Lmao this challenge was made for you

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago

Yeah, I just felt like it wasn't 100% one way again, like the last fest, but I know bunnies were definitely a more popular choice for lotsa people, too.

Still better than gear, grub, or "fun" on a stranded island imo, though, lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Oof, Frye can't catch a break lol. Honestly, I felt like the theme for this fest was pretty alright this time around.

Hope everyone had a fun Splatfest, though, and congrats to team Bear Cubs! ^^

This update focuses on making changes to multiplayer.

For some main weapons, we’ve strengthened their unique characteristics or made them easier to handle.

For the Big Bubbler, we’ve changed it to increase the amount of time you can safely act by making it harder to destroy, even from positions that make it easy to attack the weak points.

For the Splattercolor Screen, we’ve changed it to make it easier to control opponents’ movements by increasing the risk of touching the screen.

For the Triple Splashdown, while it is difficult to time its use when opponents actively attempt to shoot the player down, it is extremely powerful when opponents don’t shoot the player down. Therefore, we have simultaneously changed it to make it harder to shoot down and narrowed the area of effect.

For the Kraken Royale, we changed it to ease an issue where, from the perspective of opposing players, it felt difficult to stop countdown progression when combining Kraken Royale with Super Jump in certain modes.

We plan on releasing the next update at the end of the current season. It will focus primarily on weapon balance adjustments and adding features for Sizzle Season 2024.

The next update is also planned to change it so that when a player’s rank in any mode is within rank 1,000 for the previous season’s X Rankings, the rank change due to the season switch will become S+0.

This change is to alleviate a problem making matchmaking in X Battles difficult immediately after the season switch for players with particularly high X Power.

Not gonna lie...this Splatfest is adorable I kinda love it lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago

Looks like it's up and running again, all systems go!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

I was thinking more hard cut-offs for the shading and less gradients, but I don't wanna ask too much more cause I think it's nice, regardless! Will put it up now, and awesome stuff!! ^^

P.s. Thanks again for making such a fun banner for the community and happy to have ya here! 😄

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (2 children)

Sorry if this is a little bit too much, just figured it'd be nice to have a little more for ya since I was already making suggestions, but I think the banner's lovely in its own right, too!

Some explanation(s):

  • All the hashing is just some subtle shading, pretty much
  • All the red is some edits going top-down, left to right:
    • Make the clouds more definitive and in 3's to make them seem a little more natural
      • With some mild shading that follows the "height" subtly of the top of the cloud
    • Make the c/splatoon part more wavy in the water and leaning only slightly towards "splatoon", in the air
      • Or just putting it all in the air after moving the characters a little, too, potentially
    • Make the boat in the background a little more transparent and maybe move it around some after editing the text
    • Push the shoreline downward so it takes up a little less real estate and looks flatter to appear more like it continues outside of the frame
      • Also makes the eye more drawn towards the art and adds some flow to the pic too
    • Move the left character to the right to fit a little more text; and potentially move the island right, too, so that it feels like it's cut off to the right
    • Squeezing the left character's arm in a little since it seems a little too oval-y, to me
    • And maybe changing the receiving end to a squid/octopus so it feels a little more blobby/shapey and pointed (and fun way to show a mechanic? haha)

Either way, I think it's super cool what you've done so far and I'm mighty looking forward to what you can do in the future, too! :D

Edit: forgot to mention also making the waves come out from the shore lines a little more (in sets of odd numbers for that made-in-nature aesthetic!), with some foam/reflective, white coloring to them, too, potentially. 👍

Oh, I love the idea/aesthetic! Very cute and bright haha! Appreciate the effort ya put into it!

I wanna suggest some changes I think might be nice to incorporate before adding it right away, but will try and put some work into it and send them in a bit.

Either way, cool stuff! :D

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago

Whoops, thought these were pinned already!

Either way, congratulations to Team Keyboard and hope everyone had a fun splatfest! :D

Just wanted to give a small update, since lemmy.world's updated to 0.19.x, it looks like the bot's running into some issues now!

I'll need to see if I can get it fixed, but currently if you don't see any new posts from it, that's probably why.

Should hopefully have it working again, soon enough, though!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago

Aw, no worries, been there. Hope you feel better soon and also thanks for posting, either way!

Lol, this is pretty much just me when I choose the floors based on how fun they seem instead of what chip I'm gonna get 😭

Congrats to team Fistbump!

SRL Splatfest Research Team here with new findings! The 11th Splatfest theme will be "What's your go-to greeting? Handshake, fist bump, or hug?" As scientists, we're disappointed that "terse nod" was left out, but we'll observe from 4 PM PT on 11/17 to 4 PM PT on 11/19 anyway.

We can also report that the theme for Splatoween is "Which would be the best friend?" But with the possible answers being a zombie, a skeleton, or a ghost, we think the answer is clear. Only one of them is real! Choose wisely—voting opens 10/20 at 1 AM PT.

Just wanted to make a short announcement about pausing the bot's SplatNet/Daily Drop posts, for now.

In spite of the original poll results, it seems like these posts have fallen out of popularity and are causing the sub to get spammed up a tiny bit.

Based on a suggestion in one of the posts, I wanted to see if I could congregate the posts into a single one to try and reduce the spam a little bit, but I haven't really been able to find the time to work on that.

Always down to hear everyone's thoughts and input on what they'd like from the community, though, and hope everyone's having a super fresh Drizzle Season, so far!

Team Shiver wins!

Introducing the catalog for the "Fall 2023 Drizzle Season." It looks like you can get new gear, emotes, festival omikoshi, and other omikosi. Also, gear from last year's catalog is available again! If you don't have it yet, this is a good time to get it.
