You're right. I'm mostly a lurker and when I do want to say something it's more often than not sarcastic and shitty. What you say hits home and really makes me regret some of my Lemmy history. I'm sorry that life is hitting you so hard, the world is such a mess now and it really is hard to stay positive. But that's what Star Trek is supposed to be about. Sorry we've let you down. That's on us. Look after yourself my fellow trekie. Take my thanks for all that you do for the community. You're a Trekkie god among lurkers. Live long and prosper π

I mean when we watch decades of wars that kill thousands of American's and MILLIONS of people in their own countries for no reason, maybe we need a little additional justification rather than "fight for your country". Nah! Probably just the fault of the "instant gratification" generations being selfish again.
We see more, and trust less now. Seems like a good first order explanation to me anyway.
Just looked it up, looks like it's still Amazon. Could be missing something though.
Whoopie doing this shit makes me more sad than other dipshit boomers. Growing up she was Guinan, a character on Star Trek TNG. She was unbelievably old and wise and gentle and kind and, honestly, had the best fucking hats. Every time she says something like this, or shat on Bernie, or whatever it is today, it drives home that it's all story telling, and makes it harder to believe in something better.
They're both genocide supporters, don't worry
You're comparing linear distance to surface area of the south China sea. I'd be curious to know how close to Chinese airspace this bomber or group was flying. Fair enough though, if you think it's not analagous we could open it up to the entire gulf of Mexico/Caribbean. It seems pretty clear to me that Chinese aircraft in that area would result in a tantrum that would probably escallate beyond tailgating.
My understanding was that usually people get private insurance through their job. The other poster who answered me seems to indicate you can get private insurance on your own, so I seem to have been wrong.
I know Germany has a public / private system. Private insurers reimburse more, so they're more desirable from the perspective of medical professionals. But there is a public baseline that Germans can fall back on. This is second hand info though so take it with a grain of salt.
Wait, what? Is this confirmed? Please do explain!
#1 on my funeral mix. All you fuckers are gonna WEEP at my funeral.
