hey guys! can anyone help me understand the sign/verify feature of the monero GUI/CLI? Why does it exist? I followed the directions under 'Sign- verify Message' in the monero-GUI-guide on github but wasn't able to get a valid signature

love the discussion fellas!!!! so glad to come here and see uncensored internet debates :D also love Monero, sweet sweet, uncontrolled, unmanipulated monero. unlimited ownership rights are fucking awesome, there should never be a cap to how much value someone adds to society, and how much they are owed in return. I have no problem with some people owning more than others, based on merits or inheritances. I do have a problem with my hard earned money losing its value over time, being stolen from and having no control over it. Funny how the guy arguing communist values didn't have any counter arguments and resorted to insults. 'read a book or something'. 'wtf are u huffing'. 'what u said is so wrong i cant even disentangle it, it would take ages'. lmaoooo what a crock of shit

Interesting. Thanks for the replies!

Hey guys, I am new to the Monero community and wanted to purchase XMR with BTC through cash app on localmonero.co. So my main question is, if I send BTC to an external BTC wallet through cash app, what personal information of mine is leaked to the receiving party? I’ve tried searching for this answer online with no luck. Do they see my $Cashtag, or perhaps a BTC wallet associated with my account, or more? Is it any worse or better than just sending cash through cash app? Should i not even consider purchasing XMR with cash app? Hoping to spark a bit of conversation and learn from yall. Thank you very much!

I'm considering it. Why do you consider hardware wallets to be bad opsec?
