I'm not sure exactly how irises either but it was hard enough pasting the aperture laboratories logo into sketchup to get the angles correct that it never crossed my mind to change the number of sections.

If I remember correctly I used my 12' sliding miter saw.

There are notches for drainage but if I recall correctly only three.

 

Once I I got the tapering jig and miter stops set up this was a "breeze".

I like it a lot. It's a cheap hvlp I got years ago for for spraying walls(not great for that). I cover it in plastic between coats and spray clean water through when I'm done then give it a rinse. No different with my good brushes/rollers.

Thanks! I broke out the sprayer. The white is behr waterproofing stain & sealer. The wood is varathane red mahogany. Topped with a satin spar urethane.

 

Walnut and white oak, Danish oil finish.
