I would've liked to see them go full caverndeath x Atheist but this album feels more like Dream Unending and Cynic. Was a little disappointed by that honestly but I'm glad to see them still kicking and seeing so many people enjoy them :)

I liked the self-titled one they released a fair bit, still listen to it from time to time, but apart from that nothing else really grips me. There's also way too much death metal coming out for me to focus on Obituary like that haha. Their first few are unfuckwithable though if you ask me!
One of my favorites this year, they make the swedeath style sound refreshing almost
Really liked their last album, can't wait to hear this one!
Some good suggestions in here by @SilentViking and @DoomAxe already, but I'm gonna throw in some lesser known personal favorites as well if you're feeling a little more thirsty:
- Plague (Greece)
- Obscene (US, Indiana) (esp. for that Obituary sound)
- Molder (US, Illinois) (autopsy-esq)
- Pathogen (Philippines)
- Ectoplasma (Greece) (they mix a lot of styles though)
- Savage Deity (Thailand) (esp. for morbid angel, a lil rougher production though)
- Thulsa Doom (Italy) (esp. for morbid angel, possessed)
You can also check out legacy bands like Monstrosity who are still holding the flag high ๐
