I'm not a mod anymore, but downvotes are disabled on beehaw.

I don't feel the need to go into detail, but it was an interaction in the mod discord that changed my mind.

Deciding to contribute regularly, let alone to mod a community, isn't a light decision for me. It's a lot of time and effort to spend.

So for me it doesn't take more than one interaction that feels disrespectful and dismissive to decide that my time and energy is better spent elsewhere. I've been around more than one online community and feel as if I can recognize patterns by now. That's what made me want to take my time and attention to another instance.

If the other party to that interaction wants to weigh in, that's well within their power to do.

@[email protected] Frogman has a good point so maybe we can leave it as-is. I just won't use it.

Still it should probably be fixed before you get a letter from a lawyer about GDPR violations.

My feelings about beehaw as a community changed today, which is why I'm leaving.

But I will give some thought to it. Maybe if the admins don't delete it I can leave it in place and the comments and posts can be of some use to someone.

I just locked your post, but I can't remove anymore https://beehaw.org/post/1051360?scrollToComments=true

Yup! I type my password, get logged out, but the account still exists. Also I press "leave mod team" and it doesn't take.

I can't seem to leave the c/news mod team either.

I’m moving to delete my account. Doing so logs me out.

But the account still exists. I can sign right back in.

How can I delete it permanently?

I feel as if I have to remove this because of the source being so non-credible.

If you can find a more credible source than a person on youtube, please repost. But I am removing this with an eye to the following guideline:

Social media should be a source of last resort.

I think a sports community might be a better fit for this. I'm also noting that you're getting downvotes, which are necessarily off-instance since they aren't supported on Beehaw.

But right now I don't find any sports communities while searching, and so that makes me think it can stay here for now. This is related to an international event, even if it is a sports event.

Not every protestor is necessarily prepared to face big jail sentences.

If I as a user don't want to interact with or amplify an instance - such as lemmy.ml - for whatever reason

Is there a way to do so? I've been blocking individual communities on Lemmy.ml to avoid amplifying that instance. But more pop up. Is there any way for me as a user to block an entire instance?

But this community needs content~
