Because wages have been suppressed for decades, meaning the pay in is much less. Raise wages, and social security becomes more stable.

Notice what year that downward trend really got going... Mid pandemic. The worst students, not being physically in the building to keep them focused performing worse is a pretty logical conclusion. Also the insane right wing onslaught against public education and teachers, on top of the abysmal pay, forced out a lot of teachers. Now we have nationwide shortages.
Why would there be news articles about something that hasn't happened yet?

You're literally arguing that making those people who don't understand those things more common won't be bad because you can still find some who aren't morons. As if failing to educate more people won't be a bad thing in and out itself.
More incompetent people means less competent ones. More incompetent people means more stress on welfare programs, lower average wages (which puts stress on the stability of your social security).
At least try to think one or two steps through the consequences of your own stances...
