They are doing this because they know they are in a position where the US refuses to even pretend that they won't support them in every capacity. Because Netanyahu has so empowered the psychotic right in the country and can't leave office without going to jail, Israel wants to escalate this into a regional war so the US will directly destroy it's enemies (a la 2003 Iraq War).

Your claim is wrong because the chance of AOC moving the US towards socialism is 0, exactly the same as Biden or Trump. The US is fundamentally undemocratic. I can see the argument for a Dem presidency (particularly for the climate) but positioning it as somehow revolutionary instead of just voting for PSL, CPUSA, or even the Greens seems unjustifiable to me.

But they did do that? The US didn't create Israel or support it to an extent comparable to the modern day until over a decade after the Nakba. The US even backed the USSR when they told the entity, France, and Britain to withdraw from Egypt or get nuked during the Suez crisis.
The headaches are the point with Israel because they give everyone else a headache too, and a pretext for US intervention. It's a core part of the imperial playbook to exacerbate ethnic and religious tensions and exploit the resulting conflicts.
