I’ve been using mpv to play music by running a shell/powershell script that I can add/remove songs to, but that use case requires shell literacy so it isn’t the most friendly. (You can use mpv as a GUI, but the GUI is pretty lackluster)
mpd might be better for your use case, but I’ve not used it that much and I don’t know how well it works on Windows.
