I loved the gag when Marcille realized what was going on with the necklace bug. She went atomic flashbang out of reflex, friendly fire be damned. Compare this to when she very carefully let loose some fire directly behind Laios without even singing his hair.
It was nice to see the party pre-red dragon incident and actually get to know Falin a bit. She is one of those anime characters that doesn't open her eyes. So...she is either really easy-going and affable, or...she is some kind of evil genius. Time will tell. 🤨 In all seriousness though, I hope we get more of her going forward. I think it is easy to forget that the raison d'être for this journey is to extricate Falin, not just for Senshi to do his best Andrew Zimmern impression.
It was interesting to see a different party's experience with the dungeon and how easy it is to fall prey to treasure bugs. If it wasn't for Kensuke, our party's journey may also have ended prematurely. This also brings me to one of my favorite moments from this episode; when Marcy and Chilchuck are mourning the loss of the gems and suddenly Laios proclaims Kensuke's name. The shot lingered just long enough for the joke to hit, but not so long that it felt forced.
This episode reminded me of my own experience eating insects without realizing. It turns out that if you see that something is made with acheta powder, that means it is made with crickets. I have had cookies made with acheta and...not bad. I don't think it is as good as a normal, flour-based cookie, but it is entirely passable as a cookie. Anyway, tangent over.
Really love the ED for this show.
