I'm not a picky eater. I'm completely fine with sweet-sour-salty-savoury food. That hotpot that Shiki is eating though? Urgh. (Did she add whipped cream to it or what?)

Tomoe is apparently having fun with her master's antics? And so is he, teaching his students through the WTWD (What Tomoe Would Do) method.

In the source, it described it as a creamy broth iirc. So I had always pictured it like a soup broth that you add some heavy cream to, which isn't too uncommon (like stroganoff). However, what was animated looked like it had a lot more...substance...to it. So, I don't know what to make of it. Normal hot pot is delicious, so I am with Makoto on this one, let's just order separately from Shiki.

In this episode we get to see mean teacher Makoto. Also, we get to meet a new batch of characters in Rotsgard including his students (that are left), some other facutly, and the local waitress that enables Shiki's weird flavor preferences. From reading the source, I wasn't sure what to make of cream nabe, but seeing it animated...yeah, I'll pass.

There are a couple plots happening all at once in Rotsgard, and it isn't clear if or how they are all connected yet. First, there is a student trying to make advances on our friendly neighborhood waitress, but Shiki and Makoto keep getting in the way. Next, there is another student offering him drugs to get stronger. Third, a fellow professor has hired the Assassin's Guild to run Makoto out of town. Fourth, Makoto thinks the librarian is sus. That is a lot of moving pieces to put in place within one episode. I will be curious to see how they are able to navigate so many plot threads at one time.

Finally, it looks like we are going to get a more Mio focused episode next week based on the episode title. So, that is very much appreciated. Mio's quest to become a good enough cook to make food for Makoto is a fun one.

Not really looking forward to a cooking episode next week. Although this episode was good. Thanks for the synopsis.

This series has too many plot threads laid out to spend a whole episode on Mio's cooking, so I expect them to include a lot more other stuff too. For example, it has been two episodes now without seeing anything related to the other two heroes, so I wouldn't be surprised to see more from them in the next episode as well. I have read the source, but they have rearranged story elements a lot up to now to help with the flow, so I honestly am not sure what might be included in the next episode.
