Welcome to /c/Gay - Your LGBTQ+ Haven

We're more than just a community; we're your haven for celebrating LGBTQ+ culture and connecting with like-minded individuals.

Community Rules:

~ 1. No bigotry. Hating someone off of their race, culture, creed, sexuality, or identity is not remotely acceptable. Mistakes can happen but do your best to respect others.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 4. Keep it LGBTQ+ related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love posts but 3-4 in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon' and fuck over our artist friends.

Specifically, Rule 2: No Illegal Content

Which country?

The rainbow in the banner isn't legal in some of the more backwards counties, so which country's laws are we going by?

I think Lemmy.world is based out of the Netherlands, so, are we using Dutch laws?

Edit: The rules were updated, and the old Rule 2 is gone.

Fair point. I didn't update them properly after I had the community dumped on me. I'll have a better version at some point today

Sometimes we need to do stuff that is illegal in certain countries to further our rights. I get that this is a tricky rule to implement, but there are countries that it is illegal to be queer. So our very existence is illegal. Don't be afraid to break a law or two.

I know that MAP people like to try to glom on to queer rights, and I'm completely against that, but we shouldn't fear fighting against injustice when it's illegal to live a life of love against hate.

The rules were changed, so it doesn't actually matter
