Unfortunately not, I think the image comes from page 61 here and it's just a brief mention.

Does anyone know if metal becoming solid in the bottom and the output channel was a problem and how would they solve it?

Probably not. The temperatures are pretty high - it would take a decent amount of time to solidify, and by then you'd have to be negligent to have not removed it.
