I mean, they’re a bit too cheap currently anyways *sarcasm*

I love how the iPhone X was the "phone of the future" which made it more expensive, now it’s becoming just the normal new phone with even higher costs while the "regular one" doesn’t even get the new processor.

I kid you not, my wife is still using her iPhone 8 because recent phones haven't been worth the upgrade. Battery life is a regular issue but otherwise nothing makes her want to stop using it.

More expensive phones also mean the price difference between buying a new the battery and buying a new Phone is higher^^ I might actually go for the battery one day, so far I’ve always just bought a new one every 3 years (currently 12 Pro), this year would be the year again. But I don’t feel a strong urge to upgrade and it’s already hilariously expensive so I’m having a hard time justifying it.

EU is working their way towards forcing all handhelds to have "easily replaceable" batteries by 2027.

Hopefully this will be good news globally in this regard.

Not sure how that would work. I could imagine they’re already as replaceable as they can be while being in a water proof phone.

Somehow other phone manufacturers were able to combine both: water proofing and easy swapable batteries. Some even include a headphone jack!

If I had to choose between it being waterproof or having an easily replaceable battery I’d probably go for the waterproofing. But I’m happy to have it both ways if that‘s an option.

Apple: Impossible!

That’s why I’m still on my XR and at the moment I feel like waiting until it no longer supports the newest iOS. The base 14 and older don’t have a real “must-have” feature for me because I already have the “all screen” design.

I really hope they won’t increase the EU prices again. They did so already last year and even with US VAT, they are still a lot higher compared to US prices.

I’d love to stay with iPhone but Apple have priced me out. I’m going to hold onto my 12PM as long as I can and then I’ll probably look at a Pixel.

Recently thanks to different promotions I had the opportunity to get a new Pixel for about $1000AUD less than a 14PM, can’t argue with that value.

Same here and same phone. My 12PM has been starting to slow down increasingly for about the last 6 months, but my battery capacity has stayed steady at 89% throughout that time.

I'm torn between getting a Galaxy S23 Ultra when they get deeply discounted, a Motorola Edge Plus 2023, or a OnePlus open. I would have considered the Motorola RAZR Plus 2023 if it had the same SOC as the Edge Plus 2023.

The Galaxy Fold/Flip 5s seem to be barely iteratively better than last gen, so those are a pass until Samsung decides how it wants to handle competition from Google and OPPO.

The Pixel 7 Pro QC issues and the Tensor 3 still being based on Exynos while the Tensor 2 is slower than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 have made me decide against the Pixel 8 Pro and the Pixel Fold.

I think I'm going to pick up a cheap Galaxy Watch 4 Classic to replace my Apple Watch until the Galaxy Watch 6 comes down in price in 2024 or hopefully the Pixel Watch 2 can compete.

I hope they go back to having the same processor for the regular and pro models. Truly, the Pro features for most people are not worth the extra cash

How else would they make back the royalties from losing Lightning ports!?!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Watch Apple figure out a way to make proprietary type C cables.

A price increase is bound to happen at some point, the X came out 6 years ago at $999, that’s a pretty long time to keep a price point.

I like getting a new phone every year even though it’s objectively a poor way to spend money.I don’t do it every year because sometimes it seems pointless.

I feel like if the 14 Pro>15 is as small as the 14 was a yoy upgrade and they hike the price seems like a wait it out year.

Apple deserves all the money it can get, poor startup can't survive on competitive pricing forever.
