I'm hoping someone can help me. I have my steamdeck in the office dock connected to a monitor. When I turn it on a navigate on the external monitor. I clicked on the "..." Menu and noticed a VRR option. Like an idiot I clicked it. Monitor went black. My monitor does not support vrr.

I have tried display safe mode, rebooting and the monitor remains non functional. The monitor actually is giving me a warning that the current timing is unsupported.

I can get into desktop mode and the external monitor works there but I can not find that vrr option to turn it off.

Any help would be appreciated

Unfortunately display safe mode is the main way I know to fix issues like this. Someone mentioned deleting .local/share/kscreen and rebooting as a way to reset screen settings, but I would assume that only fixes desktop mode.

I'm not sure how settings for game mode are saved though. Gamescope is what provides the VRR functionality, so there would have to be a configuration file somewhere that it references for different games/displays. There's a chance it's using the same kscreen file for some of the settings, but I doubt it.

Thanks for the input. I would have hoped that safe mode would disable vrr.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to disable it, I'm surprised it didn't.

So if any poor idiot of a soul ends up here one day from the great search ai in the sky, know this. I tried a ton of things to fix this. Nothing worked. The only thing that did it was a factory reset (the button is under the system menu).

Good luck to you future person
