Zero Waste

Being "zero waste" means that we adopt steps towards reducing personal waste and minimizing our environmental impact.

Our community places a major focus on the 5 R's: refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, and rot. We practice this by reducing consumption, choosing reusable goods, recycling, composting, and helping each other improve.

We also recognize excess CO₂, other GHG emissions, and general resource usage as waste.

"Fishing nets account for 46 percent of the trash [within the Great Pacific Garbage Patch], with the majority of the rest composed of other fishing industry gear, including ropes, oyster spacers, eel traps, crates, and baskets."

If you still eat seafood, please consider cutting it out completely.

Bring back hemp.

The description hemp receives in Moby Dick has me convinced it's the superior product anyway. I'm aware a 19th century novel is not the most updated nor the most accurate source of information, but frankly I don't care. It's obviously better than keeping with plastic.

The shit disabled people were given for pushing back against the single use plastic straws (that make up 0.003% of plastic in the oceans) ban because it's a massive accessibility issue, while we were pointing statistics like this one in OP out and hearing crickets, tells me you shouldn't hold your breath..
