Its really sad how cruel we are to these little buddies. I wish everyone could safely coexist

Edit: i meant some of the inhumane ways they are exterminated + the fact we have to do that. This is a very wholesome story 🐁🍝👨‍🍳🏚️

Is it cruel? It's not being forced to tidy up, and seems to enjoy it. Although maybe the desk shouldn't be left a mess on purpose, if it didn't want to tidy up I'm sure it wouldn't.

I think they are talking about mice in general.... Or maybe you are being facetious.... I can't tell anymore :(

Ah, sorry, thought you meant this mouse in particular, hence my confusion! Thanks for clarifying.

I honestly thought this was a joke headline, but it's very real, and this is one of the cutest things I've seen!

Same, and I audibly squeed when Mouse picked up that long stick.. Best thing I've seen in a ages!

Now there's some footage of the mice actually doing the work, at least Bagpuss won't be able to steal all the credit.

Holbrook, 75, told the BBC: “It has been going on for months. I call him Welsh Tidy Mouse."

God bless this man's lack of imagination.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Wildlife photographer Rodney Holbrook noticed that objects he left out of place were being mysteriously put back where they belonged overnight.

Holbrook, from Builth Wells in Powys, Wales, set up a night vision camera on his workbench to find out what was happening, and captured footage reminiscent of the 2007 animated movie Ratatouille, where a rodent secretly cooks at a restaurant.

Night vision footage showed the seemingly conscientious rodent gathering clothes pegs, corks, nuts and bolts, and placing them in a tray on Holbrook’s workbench.

Holbrook even experimented with leaving out different objects to see if the mouse could lift them, but the creature was undeterred and was even seen carrying cable ties to the pot.

A similar incident occurred in 2019, when a viral video showed a mouse “stockpiling” items in a man’s shed near Bristol.

Steve Mckears told reporters he thought he “was going mad” when screws and metal objects kept reappearing in a box containing bird feed.
