John Oliver understands the internet. Like, IMO it's clear he likes it because he posted more exploitable images of himself, but even if he felt ambiguously about it, the best path forward isn't to fight the internet, it's to say nothing, or make a joke of it.

Someone else could learn a lesson from John Oliver.

He and his team are also probably loving this just because it gives them content to talk about on the show. It's a win-win.

I wonder if they'll turn it into the main segment in the next episode.

The writers' strike is still a thing, so who knows when the next episode will be. But hopefully they cover this when they come back.

"Last Summer Tonight with John Oliver"

I Know What You Did Last Summer Tonight with John Oliver

I hope so! Might hurt their valuation lol

Man, I love John Oliver, dude. Such a wholesome guy.

Haha, good! U/Spez needs to understand that Reddit is nothing without the support of the community. 3rd parties have created the tools moderators need, and moderators do the work for free.

I hope John Oliver will expose this absurd situation that Reddit has put itself in.

Sadly, I suspect spez will see this as a win, since he's got a major celebrity name-dropping his site and encouraging people to visit it.

But of course, John meant "Reddit" the way we mean "Reddit" -- referring to the community, not the company or the product or whatever.

Perhaps for the last time, but at least it's a positive accomplishment to close on.

I'm sure Spez will think its a win, but the rest of the world knows that when John recognizes your fuckery, you're in trouble. Man knows how to throw an intellectual punch.

Remembering that the Hollywood writers strike is still a thing.

I hope he does a ChatGPT bit like Some More News did

I don't even watch him but if he makes an episode about Reddit it'll be worth watching

I'm a fan of his so I'd be double-delighted if he did an episode of LWT about Reddit. I'd be triple delighted if he worked in ActivityPub.

Here is to hoping he does. The show has been off the air lately because of the writers' strike but his team arguably does better investigative journalism than many of the big name news outlets.

Who wouldn't enjoy the publicity of a landed gentry, user supported protest?! I love this so much!

I like that when he says "dear Reddit" he is clearly addressing the population of Reddit, not the company of Reddit. Because the real Reddit is the population, not the company.

What a great lad
