Bought Tears day one. Been busy all year. Finally unwrapped the plastic seal this morning. I've avoided all spoilers so far. And the opening cutscene tells me I'm in for a heck of a time.

You're in for an adventure! I got it day one too, and decided to stop playing at 100 hours since it was taking most of my free time π I'll get back to it and finish it at some point, I think I'm not even halfway through the main quest.
I completed the game at around 100 hours, but my total completion is at 46%. I may get back to it someday, but there is so much to play...
I know I'll get back to it soon. I can't believe how long it's been since the game's out! Hopefully the Switch will give us a break for a few months so I can catch up with everything I want to play... But then again, there's usually a Direct in February π
I have such a huge backlog, I don't even know what to wish for in the direct... Maybe Switch 2?
Switch 2 is my hope. I don't think there can be that many big games coming out for the Switch, I'd guess -if any- more remakes.
Yeah, but I meant, I have such huge backlog, even with Switch 2, I am not sure which game to wish for π e.g. Metroid Prime 4, I want to play Metroid Prime 1-3 before I play 4, so while it would be nice to finally have some news about it, I don't care about it too much.
That is why if you have seen this week's thread, I am planning to ignore newer games for a while and take care of the older games in my list.
Yeah, I'm kind of the same just now. It'd be really nice to see anything from Metroid Prime 4! But I assume it'll be on the next console.
My four year old is getting Super Mario Bros Wonder for Christmas and I'm so excited. I had her play the demo at Target a few weeks ago and she really liked it and played it surprisingly well. She insisted on going back a few times. I'll have to remember to film her opening it in case we get a Nintendo SIXTY FOUUUR!! reaction.
Wonderful!
That's awesome :) What was her reaction?
Nothing very dramatic. She's pretty happy to have the game at home now. My brother got her the Lego Super Mario starter set with Peach and that was a bigger hit than the game.
Was on a Donβt Starve kick, but thinking about doing some Stardew Valley because itβs such a cozy game
Just restarted my 100hr Xenoblade Chronicles 2 file which had got to endgame but not finished as I'd completely forgotten everything about it! Realised it had been 5.5 years since I last played π No idea about the characters, story, gameplay, battling, various menus and inventories, map, etc... Thought it was better to just start again and enjoy it once more!
I love Xenoblade series, though in the mainline games I would rate XC2 at 3rd, with XC1 at 2nd and XC3 at 1st.
This is what my sister told me too. I've not played 3 yet, but I've heard it's good. From the trailers it looks pretty different to the first two! Looking forward to that after I've finished 2, plus maybe its DLC if you'd recommend that?
I haven't played XC3's DLC yet, but it's very high on my list. It connects all three games together, and brings them to a close, so can't wait to get my hands on it.
Was meaning 2's DLC actually! Because I never actually finished the main story I hadn't got the DLC yet. Any good/necessary for getting the whole story?
Ah, XC2: Torna! No, you can skip it if you are just interested in the main story, it's a prequel story of some characters from XC2, some 500 years ago, but it's a very good DLC, with many improvements over the base game.
I would highly recommend to play it too, many people consider it better than XC2 main game.
Oh, I've been there. I played Xenoblade 2 and stopped for a while. When I came back I had forgotten absolutely everything, and I wasn't enjoying it enough to start over. So I ended up selling it π
Friendship over!
π
Played a bit of Theatrhythm Final Bar Line!
Went back to clear the last DLC (FF16) on Expert and Ultimate. With this I achieved my main goal for this game - while there's still the Supreme ("Extra Hard") difficulty left to do I'm not sure I want to try beating it.
Current Stats: Expert: 523/523, Ultimate: 523/523, Supreme: 16/232, Cards: 1225/1225, Level 99: 104/104, Quests: 100%.
Playing Persona 5 Tactica!
One thing that really impressed me when I played P5 Strikers earlier this year was its strong story, it felt like a proper sequel to P5, not just a spin-off. Unfortunately, this is not the case for P5 Tactica - while the story is still decent, it's more in line with other spin-offs like Persona Q, a side story focused on the new characters (in this case, Erina and Toshiro) where the Phantom Thieves are along for the ride.
That being said, I'm having fun with this one. It's very much a "light" tactical game, asides from some puzzle-like optional quests the game has been quite easy, but it's nice and polished and has interesting mechanics.
The battles are on the short side, you only use three characters at the same time and they're usually over in a 5-8 turns, which makes it a good game for short gaming sessions. Performance on the Switch has been solid overall, the only thing I have to complain are mildy annoying loading times when starting a stage (~10-12s).
Spoiler for late-game mechanics, nothing story-related
Late-game stages expand to four characters at the same time, though the 4th slot is fixed and is a character with modified mechanics compared to the main cast.
I just finished Mission 45 and I believe I'm on the final stretch, expect to finish this one either today or tomorrow.
Congratulations on completing Theatrhythm!
P5T sounds fun, but I still have to play P5...
Been working through ToTK. Been trying to ignore the main quest because there's still too many things to do before I can progress!
How far along are you? The game is great. Have fun!
Backpack Hero still draws me in! The performance of the game could use to be better in town, but otherwise I'm addicted.
Are you still enjoying it? The game looks interesting.
Yes and no. The game is definitely my kind of game. The loops are nice, the way in which you arrange your bag as you go for maximum benefit is nice. What's not so nice is that the village you come back to after each run, one that you are upgrading and building up in a customized manner, is somehow bugged. I've lost progress after going on runs. Layouts and upgrades revert back to the same state now. I confirmed this a few times and then decides to set it down for now. A real shame. I got 85 hours out of the game. So I certainly enjoyed it!
Just looked it up, the issue is on PC version too, hope they release a fix soon.
I've had an absolute blast with My Time At Sandrock. Didn't play My Time At Portia, so I went in with 0 knowledge and 0 expectations, and it's been so much fun. Quite cozy and casual, but with such a great gameplay loop, diverse mechanics and minigames, and an unexpectedly super fun story and characters. I've been told I'm only in Act 2, and I'm nearing 200 hours.
Are you playing it on Switch? How are the loading times? I loved My Time at Portia, but got tired of the loading times. Initial load was very long, and then loading when going in your house also took time.
Oops, sorry for the late response. I'm playing it on PC, and haven't had any issues with load times. No idea about Switch, I'm afraid.
Ah, no worries.
Wrapping up everything that is left to do on my first run through Xenoblade 3. All unique monsters get. All but one colony max affinity get. All X gems get. Not maxing out hero levels.
Then post-game stuff and start future redeemed DLC.
Oooh nice! Getting max affinity in some of the colonies can take some effort.
Thanks for the thread! Much appreciated!
I dropped Nioh, the game became too repetitive for me. I was in 4th region (not counting tutorial one), there are 6 total. If you don't mind that, combat is pretty good and the game is fun. I guess if I was playing more than 3-4 hours a week, I wouldn't have gotten tired of it and may have finished it.
Started Sniper Elite 4, I am not much of a stealth fan, so just killing everything that moves and loving it, specially when killing them from far.
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 is still going on, though didn't play it much over the holidays. Will get back to it soon.
I finished Rogue Heroes this last week so not really sure yet.
Picked up grindstone and undertale on sale, haven't played either before and enjoying both so far.
Tuesday I'll play Super Mario Wonder with my son. But I'm trying to save that for father son time so it's been a slow burn.
