I'm really wanting to run the plasma 6 beta to be able to help find and fix bugs. How would also like the option to be able to switch back to 5.27 if i run into a larger issue. I ideally I would be able to switch back just from sddm. Does anyone have experience doing this? or guidance as to where I could start looking.

I use arch btw :)

This might not be exactly what you're looking for, but for things like this I like to keep a VM that's as close to my system as I can get it, and then if I want to run a weird experiment that might break everything I just run it on that and if it all goes wrong I can just nuke the VM with no harm done. Also looking at the blog that the other person here linked to, it seems like the link for testing it says to run KDE Neon unstable, so maybe you could just run that in a VM with the tweaks they mentioned?

I have plasma 5.27 built and I can switch between the two with sdm, or replace my current session with the newly built one. Unless there's something strange about the new version, dependance conflicts, etc, it should work the same.

The other persons comment links to the method of doing this
