So I want to add the extreme metal community which I believe is on feddit, and the hardcorepunk community on lemmyworld and for some reason they don't come up at all on jerboa or my mobile browser...is this a glitch situation, or am I not adding them correctly? It seems on both jerboa and the browser, adding the ! Links don't pull up communities, they only come up if I type the beginning of the community names in the search bar. The majority come up when I do this, but some such as the ones I mentioned don't come up no matter how I try to subscribe to them. What am I doing wrong?

It can take a minute for it to appear if nobody on your instance has searched for it before

Ah maybe that's the issue; I got on a laptop and searched for one and it did take a few seconds, but on my phone they seem not to load at all. Maybe I'm being impatient

If you're the first person from your instance to subscribe to a community, you have to follow these steps:

  1. Open up the "Communities" page in a browser

  2. Search for the community with [email protected]

  3. Switch all search settings to "All" (even "Communities")

  4. Wait 5-10 seconds for your instance to pull in the top few posts

  5. Click through to the newly pulled in community and subscribe

Now that community is pulled in to your instance, and will be available for both yourself and all other users on your instance

I did that for both and I was unable to find them. I did just hop on a laptop, however, and that worked. I've had that problem with some other communities while trying to subscribe to them over my phone, but not all. It seems to be a mobile only issue that I'm having I guess.
