Interesting magic systems and/or the cosmere books by Brandon Sanderson.

  • Mistborn 1: The Final Empire

Sweeping space dramas like Dune but easier to get into:

  • Pandoras Star by Peter F Hamilton

Realistic sci-fi drama:

  • Expanse 1: Leviathan Wakes by James SA Corey

Interesting viewpoints/robot point of view:

  • Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro
  • Murderbot Diaries 1: All Systems Red by Martha Wells

Historical fiction:

  • Cryptonomicon by Neil Stephenson

Cyberpunk:

  • Neuromancer by William Gibson

Amazing list but... Klara was a pain to sit through for me. Left it in the middle. So something lighter? Maybe MurderBot is an easier read?

They’re short and absolutely hilarious. Love every one.

A quote for example. Where he’s explaining how he doesn’t have anything that stops him from being a rampaging killing machine anymore.

I could have become a mass murderer after I hacked my governor module, but then I realized I could access the combined feed of entertainment channels carried on the company satellites. It had been well over 35,000 hours or so since then, with still not much murdering, but probably, I don't know, a little under 35,000 hours of movies, serials, books, plays, and music consumed. As a heartless killing machine, I was a terrible failure.

If you like Audiobooks I enjoyed the narration for it and Libby had most of them for my library.

And they’re really short so they’re great filler when you’re waiting for another book and don’t want something huge like Dune or the Wheel of Time books

Yeah I’m deep into audiobooks these days. Opened a whole new way to experience massive books for me. Ooh I bet Libby has it in my local lib. Otherwise there’s always Harris County.

Have you looked into Hoopla as well? It's sort of like Libby but more multimedia, with movies/shows/music to borrow alongside books/comics. If your closest library doesn't have it, one in a nearby city might.

Definitely recommend it, as I've found a number of books/audiobooks and other media that wasn't available via Libby or my local library.

I’ve explored Hoopla since it’s part of the library card. But what should I watch on it? Any recommendations? What’s your favorite watch on it - movie or tv show…

Not the person above but I actually find audiobooks there that aren’t in Libby are aren’t available.

And some comics such as the Altered Carbon ones

If you'd like a fun mix of animated styles, Genius Party and Genius Party Beyond are two fun collections of short animated films. If you'd like some lighthearted history, Horatio's Drive is an interesting watch about the first transcontinental drive across the United States in an early automobile, before highways and roads had been built.

For interesting fantasy that's not Tolkien, The Belgariad by David & Leigh Eddings.

Cool sci-fi and fantasy short stories and novels, anything by Jean Lorrah.
