Archiving sadpanda? (burggit.moe)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I still remember the mass panic when sadpanda was due to shutting down 'forever'. Some rushed to download everything they could manually, some had amassed enough points to download directly, it was chaos. I'm my case, my viewer app in android (ehviewer) has a separate section for downloaded doujins. Problem is, the downloads are all resized images and I want a more open interface, like sadpanda recreated but locally.

So, is there a sadpanda archiver/replicator doing these?

  • Downloads metadata and images in original quality (without abusing servers and hitting bandwidth limits constantly, perhaps adjustable)
  • Uses metadata to recreate sadpanda experience (tag sort, search) in case the worst happens
  • Selfhosting possible

Apologies if this isn't the right /c/

Not self-hosted or anything but you do have a site dedicated to archiving sad panda and everything that gets removed from it: https://panda.chaika.moe/

Definitely the right place to ask this. Not quite sure how you can archive sadpanda, but u can try/use ArchiveBox or jdownloader2 for some site archive/media downloads.

Both are very good tools. Also see here for a comprehensive list of archiving tools: https://github.com/iipc/awesome-web-archiving
