I'm not sure what is supposed to be next to the briefcase but I can only see a lit stick of dynamite.
And that's what it is! The guy who draws these hides certain objects as easter eggs in his comics. In the upper right hand corner by the name, there's a 2, indicating that he hid 2 of the objects in this cartoon. The other one for this comic is the pipe above the door.
I saw the pipe but since I'm (obviously) unfamiliar with the artist's conventions I assumed it was part of the bizarro branding.

14 to 18 pounds: 3 3/4 to 4 1/4 hours
