Last time I had to buy a CD/DVD/BR player was in 2010. It was built-in my Mac. I used it 5 times in its whole lifetime, during the first year of the device.
Sorry guys but I won’t buy any short lifespan physical support.

True. But del Toro is talking about "for generations to come". The high seas are subject to shifting tides.
Which is presumably why some people hoard as much stuff as they possibly can.

Del Toro should finance a kind of library, the purpose of which would be to preserve physical copies of films and shows.
That would be cool. Something I appreciate about Scorsese is how much he has done for preserving old films.
How about any option at all to buy digital movies DRM-free? Buying a "streaming copy" is not a substitute.
