I think it's hilarious that NASA adopted the streaming industry's terminology for subscription services for its free streaming service. I thought at first that you'd have to pay for NASA+, but it is in fact free.

Should be free since it’s our taxes that fund NASA lol imagine funding an organization through taxes and then they try to sell a subscription service on top of that

California DOT is funded through taxes and I still have to pay an annual subscription to drive my car on public roadways.

You have to pay licensing so they can tie that car to you and your fees fund that program.

Healthcare and education ?

Public school is free

The American’s government doesn’t pay for healthcare by their governments choice, and because they keep not demanding it

post office?

NASA doesn't get enough money from the government anyway

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Government has repeatedly reduced funding for the post office and introduced billing for stamps and packages in an attempt to ruin and privatize that part of the government

It's kinda nice when it's late at night and you're too tired to pay attention to a plot or characters and they just roll footage from the outside of the ISS. [Especially nice if you're a bit stoned.]

I've also watched a couple talks that were fascinating to me; there was one in particular with Steve Squyres talking about the latest updates from the Spirit and Opportunity missions that I remember as particularly interesting.

watched it all night when they'd take over PBS channel. they've got some good videos but the drama music wears on me. mute

They also have a pretty neat radio station that gives mission updates and such between songs:

think they might set some auto-play vids by default. found myself clicking around to astronomy pics
