Look up some screenshots of Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts or Actraiser. They look almost identical to those games, which were originally accomplished on 16-bit machines. Impressive stuff.

The graphics blow Kirby’s Adventure out of the water!

And it doesn't seem to have much (if any) slowdown. Impressive!

For real, far worse looking games had great slowdown problems on NES (cough, cough Contra Force cough).

It's super interesting that someone remembers Jim Power enough to demake it into an NES game. I've seen this game on a Game Sack episode long ago and gave it a try, it has amazing graphics and wonderful music but the gameplay kind of sucks. This was originally an Amiga game and it doesn't really hold up, which is apparently common for Amiga.

Edit: Apparently Piko Interactive made an Enhanced Editon, I gotta try this.

Yeah I believe it was remade for the sega genesis? Then the same company did the NES demake, but it was delayed a long time.

Nah, a mostly complete port for Genesis already existed, Piko just finished up that prototype.

I've played it for the first time also on an Amiga computer. Great game and especially the tune from the first level was awesome.

Yeah, that music was stellar.
