It would be so nice if Apollo decided to integrate with lemmy

I already pinged Christian suggesting this. Although, I imagine he's probably pretty burnt on the whole thing right now.
Burnt is a understatement lol he was slandered by Reddit itself
Just commenting to increase engagement! Love federated services and hope they really take hold and replace the crap system we have now
I'm excited for it! There was an attempt at a mass reddit exodus over 5 years ago (I can't remember exactly when). The other sites I attempted didn't have anywhere the level of engagement that the Fediverse if getting now, and I think things are really going to pick up steam here once the blackout hits followed by the 3rd party apps shutting down. Things are looking pretty good for change π
Let's do this. I would love to actually see repercussions for such a braindead decision from Reddit. Let's make this puppy fly!
I haven't felt this excited about an online community since r/wallstreetbets and GMC to the moon.
Excited to join in on this reddit exodus, I was used to lurking on reddit but looking forward to actually conversing with a smaller community here! Still getting my head around the fediverse and made an account on Kbin
I can't quite figure out how to post a top level comment but would be great to have this take off with all the shit that Reddits pulling.
Personally I'm dying to see a cities Skylines sub take off
I bookmarked this site for kbin. I'm still new too, but loving the fediverse (Did I say that right?) https://codeberg.org/Kbin/kbin-core/wiki/
kbin as well; I'm very new here but have been waiting for the next big site for years, I think a lot of us have.
Post top level comments here
Look like you are on kbin as well, the top level comment is actually on the bottom of the page. Weird UI choice, hopefully it can be brought to the top
Ah so it is, odd choice but I can understand why they'd do that initially. Thanks Bread :)
Ya I try not to lurk. I at least vote.
Totally agree. It's a bit disappointing to see posts about interesting things with no comments while scrolling. I've only ever made one reddit comment, but this place looks nice and I'm happy to add to the discussion here.
Based on this comment alone, you've already caught up to your reddit commenting engagement! Congrats lol
I also was a lurker on reddit, rarely commenting. However it seems like your interactions are more welcome here.
Commenting almost felt pointless on some the busier subreddits because it would just disappear in the noise. This feels a lot more engaging so far.
Yep! I've been pushing the "be the change you want to see" approach to anyone who will listen and also quite a few who won't. But sometimes all it takes is one person for a community to pop off.
Awesome, itβs been forever since Iβve seen an online community that isnβt already established so itβs cool to participate in one that still growing. Iβm using mobile so there are some bugs and Iβm having trouble uploading an avatar, it lets me select the picture but it doesnβt look like it actually uploads it.
Me too! I'm excited to help the formative process so that it can turn into something fruitful.
I'm predicting that the app will probably be a bit buggy until this site gets the momentum it needs to receive more attention. Maybe one of the app developers that dropped reddit will get on it. Meanwhile, the app is good enough to interact. If I need to make any major changes, I can still use a desktop.
I am definitely a Redditfugee, I've been posting a little bit today and have gotten some responses. I look forward to engaging somewhere other than Reddit, it's just going to take me some time to figure out how this all works. I started by subbing to about 30 "magazines" (I'm using kbin) that are relevant to my interests. Not entirely sure how to filter the homepage view to prioritize those but I will figure it out.
Hello, fellow kbin user! How did you set a profile picture? Iβm not finding any way to do it on my profile.
When I click on your autism sub link my phone tries to open it as an email address.
Thanks for letting me know! I'll check it out tomorrow morning. For now, you can click on the lemmy.world front page -> Communities then find Autism by scrolling or using the search bar.
Yeah. I'm trying to convert my friends, but none of them are sure about leaving Reddit.
If they use third party app, tell them to try out the reddit app, they'll probably be more inclined to migrate then xd
I have no idea what they use. I don't think they're very aware if the problem
I'll do one better and create a community! Head over if you want to chat about hemp: https://lemmy.world/c/cult_of_thca
11years 4months. Feels like moving into a new house.
I just tried to post a comment in the Colombia community and I got the error "language not allowed . Does anyone know what could cause that? I tried Spanish and English and same thing.
My issue is, the whole Fediverse (or whatever it's called) concept is just hard for me to understand. But I'm also stupid.
Lol, it's definitely a barrier to entry. I'm a professional tech dev, and I still had to spend a good deal of time researching to get a solid understanding of the nuances. The nice thing about fedi is that it doesn't seem to matter TOO much which server/group you go with.
The way it was explained to me was its kinda like email, you dont need to have a yahoo email to email someone on yahoo, you just need to have any email. You can pick an instance that you like the UI of the best or whatever and then access whatever fediverse content you want.
Well the way I'm thinking of it in terms of Lemmy, it's like if a lot of "reddits" websites (instances) used basically the same source code, and had a protocol to interact with each other so you could sub to subreddits on other reddits and posts on other reddits showed up on r/all
The first step is self-acceptance lol <3
