Please also check out vegantheoryclub.org for a great set of well-run communities for vegan news, cooking, gardening, and art. It is not federated with LW, but it is a nice, cozy, all-in-one space for vegans.

We ask that the you have an understanding on what veganism is before engaging in this community.

Welcome

Welcome to c/[email protected]. Broadly, this community is a place to discuss veganism. Discussion on intersectional topics related to the animal rights movement are also encouraged.

What is Veganism?

'Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals ...'

— abridged definition from The Vegan Society

Rules

The rules are subject to change, especially upon community feedback.

  1. Discrimination is not tolerated. This includes speciesism.
  2. Topics not relating to veganism are subject to removal.
  3. Posts are to be as accessible as practicable:
    • pictures of text require alt-text;
    • paywalled articles must have an accessible non-paywalled link.
  4. Content warnings are required for triggering content.
  5. Bad-faith carnist rhetoric & anti-veganism are not allowed, as this is not a space to debate the merits of veganism. Anyone is welcome here, however, and so good-faith efforts to ask questions about veganism may be given their own weekly stickied post in the future (see current stickied discussion).
    • before jumping into the community, we encourage you to read examples of common fallacies here.
    • if you're asking questions about veganism, be mindful that the person on the other end is trying to be helpful by answering you and treat them with at least as much respect as they give you.
  6. Misinformation, particularly that which is dangerous or has malicious intent, is subject to removal.

Vegan Boots (lemmy.world)
submitted 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I'm searching for boots similar to these but vegan for obvious reasons. I love boots but haven't had them for years because I couldn't find any cool-looking.

Hey, why didnt I get a notification about why my comment was deleted?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

There's always a reason given when comments are deleted. Afaik it doesn't even need to be your comment but could be the comment you replied to but I'm a newbie

Well i commented on this post earlier, and now it is gone. I even have a reply notification that goes to no where.

Can you still provide the content of the message? Maybe I'll remember if it was actually the comment that got deleted or a parent that you replied to :)

Nevermind I found it in the community mod log.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Sorry if posting this is a violation.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It is also false.

Studies and LCA analysis have revealed that leather products are far more damaging to the environment than even PU leather.

This is due to the enormous environmental impact of the cattle themselves, including land clearing, water use, direct emissions, etc.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Does that include all of the other products made with the cattle?

Not exactly the same color but it's the look not the exact color I was looking for ;) I'm still open for other suggestions and maybe someone else benefits from suggestions as well :)

Depends where you are, Mr. Posting-from-lemmy-dot-world. There's a shop in Amsterdam where I bought vegan work shoes with the steel toes, cushioning etc two years ago, still going strong through various kitchen jobs. These are the ones actually: https://www.vega-life.nl/i/vegan-werkschoenen-en-vegan-veiligheidsschoenen/eco-vegan-shoes-easy-walker-advanced-swiss-fabric-safety-s3-src-jeans

I have a pair of the vegan Dr. Marten's but honestly they take a while to dry out after heavy rain, otherwise they're spot on.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

it doesn't as I am buying them online. Also how dare you decide I am a man. Ok, my name is haha

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Then having them posted, presumably? I think that matters!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

You're right! I've added the German flag to my profile :D

[–] [email protected] 0 points 11 months ago

I also found these as another example but they are a little high
