MVP

... posthumously.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Is it the the bold times you see differently?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

No, there's no line breaks at all in the timing tower:

It looks similar in Jerboa, Liftoff, and web-ui. If you add a period after each number you'll turn the timing tower into an ordered list which looks pretty good. I added the bold times while I was at it, but it's the line breaks that matter.

Edit: I got distracted when writing this and it looks like you fixed it a different way between when I started and finished. It looks great now. Thanks for posting the timings and fixing up the formatting to look good.

We don't get new line between drivers. Suspect you'd need to end each line with a double space.

What a great Q, except for Max, Max always ruining everything.

Awesome results for McLarens, How did they pull this off?

Awesome result for mclaren, sad that things didn’t go albons way when Williams was looking so good in practice

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago

P8 in a Williams is still a pretty damn good result. I’m shocked at the McLaren pace in qualy. Seems like they got some nice upgrades. I

I was in stunned silence for several seconds with Lando in P1 right at the end there. Fantastic showing from McLaren!

Should be an exciting opening lap tomorrow.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

Then the Dutchman had to come smash everyone’s excitement once again lol

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Shame about the Max-sistency.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (2 children)

What an action packed qualifier!

Perez need to be replaced with Danny Ric

Let’s go Oscar!! Aussie aussie aussie oie oie oie!

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Perez needs to be replaced by literally any other driver. It’s almost like Red Bull are nervous of putting someone too competitive in the same car as Max.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

If the Red Bull cars stay dominant over the next few years, I'd love a competitive driver 2 to create the "Hamilton-Rosberg" situation not only for the drama but to potentially make the driver's championship an actual race.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Seems more like Max is clearly a cut above every other driver he’s driven against in the same car.

We know Red Bull tried multiple times to get Lando in the car as well, they’re not afraid of fast drivers.

Checo was just entirely overrated imo.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well Checo had been able to do the one thing Albon and Gasly couldn't, which is consistently finish one or two places behind Max (in both quali and the race).

That doesn't seem to be happening anymore, for various reasons. It was enough to get drivers canned mid-season before, but with a car this dominant and the rest of the field much closer, they're not under any sort of pressure when it comes to the WCC, so who knows.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Checo also had a championship winning car every season with Red Bull.

Albon and Gasly had a notoriously sensitive and tricky Red Bull to drive.

For what it’s worth the gap between Max and Checo as teammates has not been much if any better overall than Albon.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm honestly hoping that Danny Ric doesn't replace Perez. Let it be Yuki, but I don't want to see Danny get destroyed by Max again. I don't think that he has enough to offer to create a situation like Rosberg to Hamilton.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Did DR get utterly destroyed by Verstappen though?

Max beat him in the 2018 standings but Ricciardo got very unlucky with reliability that year. He had 8 DNFs, compared to 4 from Verstappen, 6 of which were down to the car rather than him.

Verstappen decisively beat him in qualifying but, with an average gap of just over a tenth, its not the embarrassment that it first appears.

Do I think Ricciardo can beat Verstappen? No, probably not. That said, he is the only driver to have beaten Max in equal machinery and they both have a preference for reactive front ends. With Max demanding an incredibly twitchy car, RB need a second driver that can reliably place their car high in the order. Especially since they may actually have to fight for the championship in 24 and 25.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Unfortunately the daniel of today is not the same as the daniel of 2018. Also max today is also much better than he was in 2018. So even though he did not get destroyed earlier, he may get destroyed now in much the same way as he was destroyed by Lando. Ricciardo has to go to a smaller team and rebuild his confidence and reputation before trying for one of the top teams

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Didn't see the session myself, but it seems the Williams pace from practice was legit? Albon way up there. Nice to see.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Williams pace was great in the dry, they just got off to a super shaky start in qualifying because it was still wet.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Checo has got be close to being gone at this point. Bring in DR for the remainder of 23. Maybe this shuffle would allow Indycar's Alex Palou to come across the pond.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

I dont see him being shuffled out this season unless Ricciardo absolutely knocks it out of the park at the pirelli test. I think it's more likely that he replaces De Vries so that they can compare DR and Yuki for the RB seat next season

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Will be stoked to see mclaren in the mix, hoping for no car failures, crashes on lap 1.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Good job for the McLaren team, let's hope they can keep up tomorrow

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Solid performance by McLaren. Nice to see them up near the top.
