Hi Selfhosted,

I'm looking for the best recommendation to replace spotify for music on the go and at home.

Currently at home I use moOde for multiroom audio and spotify connect to play music, my wife also casts to it using airplay. I then just use the spotify app on android when out of the house.

I already have a large music collection but I am not sure of the best way of making it accessible. Any ideas?

Spotube is pretty good. You login through Spotify and it uses the Spotify API to import all your playlists and recommendations. It does have a few flaws, but overall, it's a better experience than the Spotify app imo.

You can also get Spotube on the Google Play store and other stores I'm assuming. Or you can get it from F-Droid which is a free and open source alternative to the play store.

I recently looked through the options and decided on Navidrome for the server with Symfonium for the Android app.

My collection is mostly in flac and Navidrome can transcode to something lighter like opus for when your connection is limited (either days limits or bad connection).

Symfonium is a lovely app, although I needed to go through the settings to get it to work exactly like I wanted (e.g. caching recently played and upcoming tracks in the playlist).
