I have an issue with NVIDIA and wayland which persists since Kubuntu 22.10. It still happens in 23.10.

Normally I run Wayland with the integrated Intel GPU and everything is fine.

If I want to play a game then I run "prime-select nvidia" and reboot. However if I run "glxinfo | grep renderer" after that, the output is the Intel GPU. ("prime-select query" outputs nvidia).

If I switch to X11 then everything runs on the NVIDIA GPU which is fine. But I wanted to use Wayland with NVIDIA and thought it should work by now.

Any ideas what is going on?

Dont think you can use prime-select nvidia since it relies on xorg configs. In fact not sure if you can run the nvgpu as the only graphics card under any switcher app atm for wayland.

You should try envy control which has specific instructions for wayland use.

not sure if this will help but I use prime render offloading to run specific applications on my Nvidia GPU with Wayland

I run Wayland on my Intel integrated graphics and then prime-run programs onto my Nvidia gpu
