Got something similar yesterday, but for KDE-Connect from F-Droid. Downloaded the Play Store version instead.
org.thoughtcrime.securesms and I get mine from neo store /fdroid

The package name is not a secure identifier. It's just a way for Android to keep track of which apps it has installed. It only has to be unique on your phone or the Play Store. Anyone can set any package name and distribute it outside the Play Store, as long as it doesn't clash with an already installed app it will let you. Luckily Play Protect saved you in this case.

And I download directly from the website and it aelf-updates. Nothing but an annoyance.
