Hey all! So I've been dealing with some issues recently in regards to modding SkyrimSE on my SD. I have tried a lot of things, and recently my best option has stopped working for some reason...

I have been using SteamTinkerLaunch for launching Vortex, but all of a sudden when I hit start, it just hangs and doesn't do anything. I can't seem to figure out why that is... I have resorted to manually installing mods, but it feels a bit hacky and I can't install FOMODs from the looks of it.

My question is this: does anyone have a good and currently working solution to modding SkyrimSE? I have tried that one MO2 script that I see floating around all the time, and obviously the STL Vortex, but I just need something that is working on my SD that isn't an ancient solution that has a form post speculating it working from when the SD came out.

Thanks for any help you guys can give!

have you tried installing mo2 through steamtinkerlaunch?

Honestly, no I have not. Does it work well?

Huh, ok, I'll try that out later and update y'all. Thanks for the advice!

Still had some problems with it since I would have it work on desktop, but not gamemode...

https://github.com/sonic2kk/steamtinkerlaunch/wiki/Steam-Deck#usage Did you enable the Steam Tinker Launch compatibility tool?

or use this custom launch command: steamtinkerlaunch %command%

Yeah, I did that but then I did the non STL which still launched SKSE, but not the mods. Do I still need STL and MO2?

you do need to launch the game through stl and mo2 for the mods to work

I've got this up and running with Vortex. I can't give you an exact guide, because I just kept clobbering it together until it started working. Also, this was done right before the new Steam update. It probably doesn't affect it, but IDK.

Pikdum's Tools for setting up Vortex: This video (read description!) seems to get you most of the way there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0lC-alUAGg&t Tools themselves. https://github.com/pikdum/steam-deck

Once it's all set up I simply go to desktop mode, browse to the mod I want in Firefox (or use the "send tab to device" option from my PC), click on the Mod Manager download, it prompts for an application, Vortex shows up in that list, download and install via Vortex, then I close Vortex, run the "Skyrim Post-Deploy" shortcut that the Pikdum's toolkit placed on my desktop, switch to gaming mode, and game away.

In the end the setup wasn't too bad. I ended up downloading a collection from Nexus and I install/remove mods as I want by switching to desktop, using vortex, post-deploy script, and switching back to gaming mode.

Edit: and yes I also have everything on the SD
