When did Dukat become evil?

During "The Maquis, Part 1 & Part 2" he seemed genuinely interested in making the treaty between The Federation and The Cardassians work.

And yet by Series 4, Series 5 he seemed genuinely determined wipe out The Federation, and to reconquer Bajor. And the less said about his time with The Pah-Wraiths the better.

So was he just faking it during "The Maquis"? Or did something cause him to flip a switch (so to speak)?

Pretty sure he became evil sometime around the occupation of Bajor.

Yeah -- I get that :)

But his character just seemed to..... alter at some point. From a mediator type to an all out psycho.

shrug I was just curious.

I figured it out.

It was "Return To Grace" -- when he decided that he was the only one who could restore the Cardassian Empire to its former glory. That he was the only one who could restore The Empire to what it should be.

That was when he started his crusade. When he started his holy war.

When he started to see himself as a prophet (pun intended) as opposed to a soldier.
