I can't tell if this is a shit post...
I think it’s an appropriate response to that photo.
I agree with you. I meant in regards to OP's post.
I'd replace. The tank is compromised and leaking. Heatpump, conventional or tankless regardless of your decision, replacement will be needed.
Replace. A 50 gallon gas WH will set you back $500. My guy installs them for $300, I think you can find a similar price in your area if you look for someone in your neighborhood.
What a great price for an install. I got quoted $1200 just for install. I've done one once before so I think I can handle it. Thanks for the advice!
I don't know much about water heaters, but I would say replace, even if it can be repaired there are likely other things that will go wrong soon. I was able to install my own gas water heater easily with a new one for $300, electric should be even easier.

They sell water heaters that use a heat pump, cooling the air while heating the water. This saves money in the summer by reducing some of the load on your AC unit. In the winter you break even compared to a regular unit. If you're in a location that requires cooling your house for several months of the year, I'd take the opportunity to upgrade and save some money long term. You might need to run some numbers to see if the extra up front cost makes sense for your situation.
